Came back to W6D1 after a 2 week break and just had the best run of my LIFE. Good pace the whole time and even managed a sprint finish
psyched to get onto 25 minutes straight now, although it sucks that the current weather is forcing me to run after 8pm to avoid melting

Right, so, I did the W1R1 about 2 weeks ago around a local loch, but because I have extremely flat feet I found it very uncomfortable, and thought it best to carry out the rest of the program on a treadmill (at least until I lose a bit of weight and then the impact on my legs during outside running is less).

I bought a standard "flat feet" insole from JJB, but it didn't work - it actually made thing much much worse.
My shoes are good for now, but eventually I will go to podiatrist. -
Re: NHS Couch to 5k - Fitness Phobes AnonymousAhhh! So after being totally lazy for 2 weeks, I've FINALLY fully completed my first run of week 7! After leaving it so long, I started getting really paranoid that the previous 6 weeks had been for nothing and that I'd reverted to being totally unfit, but this was the easiest long run yet! I was so pleased with myself. After 2 weeks of nothing, I thought I'd only do 20 minutes, and was really really dreading it, but when it got to 20 minutes, I didn't feel too bad, so I carried on and I felt just fine!(Original post by paperstars)

W7R3 done!! I really really really wanted to give up as soon as I started, but I remembered you said that the first 5 minutes are the hardest. And it's true! After 5 minutes, I felt like I could keep going and going, even with my stitch and heavy breathing and red face.
Don't worry, you're just getting back into the swing of things, and I KNOW you're capable of running the full 25 minutes! I really can't believe I've gotten this far, to be honest. Usually I like to procrastinate, so when I started this, I thought I would forever be on week 3 or 4.
(The lamp I'm making is actually pretty simple, origami ball + stand + lightbulb~! no creativity needed.

I can't believe I can run 25 minutes already and yep, I am scared. Only two weeks!!
I even sped up a bit at the end!

I've been avoiding this thread in order to avoid guilt, but I feel like I can now return :L (though I am away from the 3rd to the 14th, though I am home for half a day on the 7th, so hopefully do a run then and my hotel has a gym, I think, so I'll try to do it on a treadmill or something, as it'll be waaay too hot for me to consider doing it outside) - I even used the heat here last week as an excuse; holiday heat is for pools. -

I know it sounds daunting (I remember saying to my mum that I was going to have to do 5 minutes of constant running, so if I wasn't back in 40 minutes, she had to come out in the car looking for me) and it does seem like quite a long time when you're doing it (though at least it makes the 3 minute runs seem nice :L), but it feels SO SO GOOD once you've completed it. I know I felt pretty much like a God. Plus, you don't want to make yourself scared of the slightly longer runs, or you run the risk of talking yourself out of all of the longer runs and it'll take much much longer to complete the programme than it needs to.(Original post by miml)
Joining this thread now, but I finished week 3 on wednesday.
Debating whether to start week 4 immediately or do one more of the week 3 runs before starting it. 5 minute steps sound pretty daunting!
So long as you've completed week 3 and remained relatively alive, then you should be just fine doing this

I found that on quite a few of the weeks so far - I like to think that it's because your body can take a shock at run 1, then repeating it on a slightly worn body on run 2, then it's used to it by run 3 as you're getting fitter and better at running.(Original post by Zottula)
Hey guys. I already run a bit so I decided to start at week five. I have just finished week five today
. For some reason I found workout 3 easier than workout 2
. Maybe I was just feeling more energetic today.
This is probably total bull, but it makes me feel good :L -

That's good! I was until I finished school and alll of my timing went totally out of the window. I wish I was more organised, but half of the time i don't even know what day of the week it is atm

I'm planning week 1, run 3 in the morning. I feel so unfit and it's pretty unmotivating but I really want to stick to it this time. I've been running at 6.30am this week to avoid people haha but as tomorrow is Sunday I'm going to go at about 7.30.
How quickly do people start to feel fitter? -
W4R3 tomorrow. I am really, really enjoying the programme and along with my diet I have now lost 20lb. I still fear I'm losing weight too fast but I have been studying my calorie deficit and exercise calories and they seem to agree with the requirements for 2lb a week loss :s
Anyway, in 5 weeks I'll hopefully be getting 30mins cardio three times a week and in a position to start lifting
the gym I'm looking at joining does mma training, could get interesting! And they have an octagon

If you are just overweight (BMI) then you should be looking at 2lbs a week but if you're morbidly obese then losing more will be fine and something you can't help. Still, as long as you're still getting your required nutrients and drinking enough I wouldn't really worry - your rate of weight loss will probably slow down anyway after your body kinda plateaus.(Original post by Jack7Richards)
