Re: The Manchester United Society VIII
A good article on Andos 4 years at United and how hes developed
According to the Globo TV commentator Jon Cotterill, the perception has developed in Brazil of a footballer who has abandoned the qualities that made him so revered in the first place. "Anderson started off as the new Ronaldinho but he's changed his style of play completely. He's learned to mark. He's bulked up. He's more direct. But he seems to have forgotten his talent and creative gifts." -
Re: The Manchester United Society VIIII read about Anderson's change right here on TSR via ABF! It must feel nice to have your thoughts vindicated(Original post by AndersonsBentFoot)

Yeah, hopefully this year we'll see the real Anderson, without the injury issues and hopefully scoring a few goals. -
Re: The Manchester United Society VIIIits unlikely that he will get the same number of games that he has over the past season. nani and young bring more to their attacking game than valencia, and i think that will be one of the major factors that will keep him out.
however, i do think valencia will be utilised in games where we need a bit more defensive solidity e.g. stoke away, chelsea away etc.
also, nani and young could potentially struggle in some games as defenders become used to with coping with one-one-one situations, and sometimes valencia will have to be used to get that extra yard of space due to his immense accelration and just whip in some crosses. -
Re: The Manchester United Society VIII
Valencia is very good but on the right, same goes for Nani. The left is Young's position, we've looked far more balanced since he has come in. SAF rates Valencia as a very intelligent player tactically so he'll be starting some big games as well. Tore Ashley Cole to pieces last season but Nani just has that extra bit more.
Either way, the gametime they'll be getting is a bit up in the air now they're all fit. If I was to avoid picking one for Fantasy Football it'd be Valencia.
Still think we'll see Nani tried on the left again at some point this season... -
Re: The Manchester United Society VIIIIt was a very good season but in terms of productivity it was a touch overrated. 9 assists in the league, less than both Nani and Giggs.(Original post by warwickorbristol)
You've forgotten how good Valencia was/is tbh. That season Rooney scored a decent amount (The only one ever
) Valencia was just a machine out wide. I'd far rather face a team with Young in than Valencia.
Valencia and Young aren't really competing. Not unless Nani shows some consistency on the left. It's between Nani and Valencia on the right wing, Young will largely hold down the left with Park taking more control towards the end of the season, Giggs with a possible cameo or two out there. I rate Nani higher than Valencia and think he'll play more over the season.
Nani attacking, Valencia defensive, Young attacking, Park defensive. It's a good balance. Calling Valencia defensive is unfair but I think that's what he'll be picked based on because Nani is better going forward.
PS, every single one of Rooney's seasons here have been 'decent'.
Double figures in the league every time.

Re: The Manchester United Society VIIII think with Valencia, when he starts wide on the left he tends to be bound in one straight line (running up on the counter to deliver crosses and run back to defend) however, he doesn't really try to play the ball for himself like Nani does. Nani's not scared to take shots even if they are going to be difficult and that's what seperates the two from each other. Though I do remember Valencia taking a shot at goal against Benefica. Nani's an 'overall' type of player so I think either the left or right would suit him.(Original post by Mastermind`)

Double figures is the least you'd expect from a £25 million (old money) striker. -
Re: The Manchester United Society VIIIMmm, league only though and I seem to recall him performing well in CL fixtures as well. Loads of goals against Milan and Bayern and i'm sure Valencia set up a lot of them. One assist in the San Siro for a Rooney header that I remember clearly, we scored 4 against them at OT, the goal away at Bayern was from a cross from the right (can't remember if it was AV though) and then 3 at home to Bayern and I think 2 of them came from the right.(Original post by warwickorbristol)

All from open play yes, but i'd imagine Nani's were the same because he didn't put many good deliveries in from a dead ball. Giggs was maybe the only one who'd set up a few from set pieces.
Agreed, but it was still decent. (arguing semantics is so much fun

Re: The Manchester United Society VIII
First of all i would like to remind you that your club should give up on the premier league, fa cup and league cup as these trophies will all be won by manchester united this year, additionally id like to ask you why we can win with a team of kids but arsenal cannot?
We have the best up and coming goalkeeper in david de gea, despite early errors against west brom and man city, he has shown his mental strength by coming back and giving strong displays against arsenal and spurs 2 of the teams who will finish in the CL places this season
We have the worlds best defender in vidic
We have the pound for pound most complete striker on the planet in sir wayne rooney
and we also have a world class midfield that while currently only surpassed by barcelona, will eventually become the greatest midfield of all time in 2-3 years
We also have the best manager, the best fans, and the best stadium in the world
Wayne is the best hes the best, he creates magic, hes winning, he has tiger blood, he has adonis dna, he creates magic at any field he destroys. Wayne Rooney is like the "michael jackson" of football, he is like a superstar from hell, living with nice tight angel wings in his forehead.
Has Messi ever scored an overhead kick? No he has not, therefore Rooney > Messi.

Re: The Manchester United Society VIII
I'm disappointed Rooney didn't convert his chances. Could have been three hat-tricks on the trot. Nevertheless he now has 9 goals in 5 league games.
I believe he is now the first player to ever score 9 goals in the opening 5 games, so he re-wrote a bit of history today.
Evan's passing was incredible today - where has he been hiding it? It was with his right foot as well.

Re: The Manchester United Society VIIIall that and you didnt even mention Jones and Smalling <3 !! who needs vidic, rio, VDS, giggs, scholes, hahaah jk but a new generation has emerged, and boy is it a bloody good one(Original post by a_t)
