a)
(x6)(x+1)(x+1)(x1)\displaystyle \frac{(x-6)(x+1)}{(x+1)(x-1)} simplify which is x6x1\displaystyle \frac{x-6}{x-1}

The question is x-1 not x^2 -1 isnt it?

and still no one has answered the original question haha.

Are you sure that first one is right? Because it doesnt simplify as I'd imagine it to. If it is right then you need to do long division on it, which is boring and long. If you need the method, quote me and I'll write it in the morning. Going to bed now
