Re: TSR Motorbike Society- take 3!a sunny day rider on a ER6n, thought you only got sunny day riders on 'nice' bikes(Original post by odkfn)
He's a sunny day rider...in Scotland we get like 3 days of sun a year.. -
But it's an ER...(Original post by odkfn)

Re: TSR Motorbike Society- take 3!I've ridden an ER6F, I'm 5ft 2 and had no issues at all with it. I found it dull... boring, didn't like it through corners, but the owner loves it... It didn't break down on me when everything else did, and you can force it through corners at speed, but i preferred my sv.(Original post by KasanDude)
Currently in the process of saving up for a new Ninja 650r (ER-6f to most). So far I have 500 pounds. The bike retails for like 6,500 so, no rush
Anyone care to offer an opinion on it?
P.S. Is anyone else here extremely short (5'6") and has a hell of a time finding adequately short bikes to ride? (aside from cruisers/choppers, theyre a freebie)
SV650 can be lowered a fair bit (i get both feet on the ground) look in the op, measure your inside leg and look at the link:
If you're a short female or just want to know what might suit you : http://cycle-ergo.com/ <-- that will tell you if you can sit on a bike, just tell it your height and it does the rest.
Here gives a list of bike seat heights (in op)
Look at the geton website(Original post by Saahir786)
Hi everyone. I've got a Full car license and I was looking to take the motorcycle route because to be frank being quoted over £10,000 for car insurance is ridiculous. I have just left college now and will be working full time in the city centre so I was looking to buy a motorcycle (Skyjet 125cc) and was wondering opinions about it (a) because its cheap <£1000 to buy. So I know I have to take a CBT and was wondering whether anyone who could point to a direction of getting a free taster lesson or a CBT test in manchester and the cost (if you have completed your CBT in manchester) preferably near the city centre
Thank you in advance -
Re: TSR Motorbike Society- take 3!In addition can I just add that a SkyJet would be an awful bike to own. Parts are hard to come by and it may be pretty (debatable but each to their own) but its not a reliable bike. For starting check the OP or listen to some of the suggestions already mentioned.(Original post by Saahir786)

Re: TSR Motorbike Society- take 3!
Had another person offer me a honda cg125 and will throw in the clothing (2005 model) for £900 I'm debating whether I should buy it or nor. As for the skyjet I have read some reviews and seen that F4ll3n your right about it being an unreliable bike to own thus looking for a honda now which most people even people who have been bikers for nearly 10-20 years recommend it because they are reliable.

Re: TSR Motorbike Society- take 3!Hmm, yeah I know the site. I guess the er6f just isnt a supersport-ish bike. I've read that it's great for beginner riders tho, and seeing as I've ridden very sparsly over the years, i thought it could be a good fit.(Original post by Bathwiggle)

Re: TSR Motorbike Society- take 3!All hondas are a good choice to be honest. CG125 is a great first time bike and I would highly recommend it. There is a saying that Honda are pretty much bullet proof...(Original post by Saahir786)

Go with whatever you feel most comfortable and confident (not overly!) with. Id say if you are looking at the ER6 then also try the SV, Fazer, Bandit and CBF to get an overall idea of what you find suits you the most.(Original post by KasanDude)

And no - the ER6F isnt a supersports at all. I started on sports bikes and eventually ended up with an SV. But from someone whose done it the other way round, Id say definitely start with a non-sports. -
Re: TSR Motorbike Society- take 3!It's meant to be kwaka's equivalent of the SV650, they both race in the same class, but it depends what you enjoy sitting on. There is more info in the op about bikes. For me the ER is just the wrong riding position, i enjoy a more sportier seat and lean angle.(Original post by KasanDude)

Never tried the ER6 but wiggles SV is awesome to ride ^_^(Original post by Bathwiggle)

Re: TSR Motorbike Society- take 3!There's a reason it's only done 1500 miles... They're truly terrible bikes. Much better options out there, I rode a hornet 6 the other day, really quick and good fun to ride, far better option.(Original post by odkfn)

Re: TSR Motorbike Society- take 3!Yeah, I've just had a look and the SV looks pretty much exactly the same as the ER6, albeit with slight differences. What caught my eye on the suzuki website was the bandit 650... it costs almost half what the ER with ABS would cost, which would mean I'd only have to work half as much! I might actually reconsider.(Original post by Bathwiggle)

Re: TSR Motorbike Society- take 3!sv and er are very different bikes, or the 2 sv's and er i tried were, each have their own perks, the older sv is the most fun, newer shape corners better than the ER but is too sitty uppy for me, and the er was no good to play on. Bandits arent bad bikes, also have a look at the cbf, it might do what you want, very comfy bike, and oli on here has one, as did crazyjoyce, although he'll complain it's boring.(Original post by KasanDude)

Re: TSR Motorbike Society- take 3!Ah, youre right. I was looking at the SV650S instead of the normal one. They seemed the same in terms of dimensions and engines, but as I haven't ridden either I haven't a clue. The CBF does look interesting...(Original post by Bathwiggle)

Re: TSR Motorbike Society- take 3!I quite like the CBF although ive never ridden one. Think I'd probably still go for the SV if given the choice though.(Original post by KasanDude)
