Re: TSR Motorbike Society- take 3!pHe said they only give one month warranty and that's on all the bikes. About the service history he said that the person who sold it to him did it after it stopped working and they had to replace several parts. He also said that this person who had the bike spent about £500 a year on it for every year he had it.(Original post by Chilledice)
Probably normal then
It's not a terrible deal, look on sites like autotrader, mcn and the like and you'll see 2005 cbr's going for around that price. If you have your heart set on a cbr you'll probably not do too badly buying from the dealer at that price. I'd check to see what sort of warranty they'd give you and what the service history is like (if it's not more than a few month warranty and there's no service history I'd be disinclined to give them your money). If you do buy it, you'll probably be able to sell it for not much less than you paid for it a few months down the line.
Just read the bike details he wrote for me. Full tax and MOT, new battery serviced, sprocket.Last edited by 0906079; 08-08-2012 at 19:33. -
Re: TSR Motorbike Society- take 3!The suspicious part of me would think that they've got a knackered bike, put it back together and made sure it'll last just long enough to get you out the door...(Original post by 0906079)

But I don't think they would do that, at least I hope they wouldn't. If you're interested in buying it then either get an experienced friend to look it over or go for it and hope that my suspicions are wrong :PLast edited by Chilledice; 08-08-2012 at 20:23. -
Re: TSR Motorbike Society- take 3!pI spend over £500 a year on my bike, that could be the tax, insurance, and petrol, or just on servicing, but my bike is still a shed, mainly held together with duct tape, leccy tape and cable ties....but she does sound good...(Original post by 0906079)

Re: TSR Motorbike Society- take 3!Cheers for the info mate.(Original post by F4LL3N)
I've ridden 2 CBR F's, owned 1 and an FS1. The F is the comfy CBR against the RR or the FS1. If you're strictly looking at the CBR F against the R6 then depends how sporty you want to go. The R6 is the most sporty but I love CBR's and the F is a cracking bike although I think it's slightly less power hungry than an R6 (unless you start comparing to the RR or FS1 in which case power bands would be similar). Have you considered the 2001 CBR FS1? Most favourite bike I've ever owned. More sporty than the F but more comfortable than the RR and keeps the 2 seat sportier look (compared to the F). Never ridden an R6 so can't compare to that in terms of the ride.

Buuut scrap that question anyway as my mate found a really nice 2005 R6 for not much more, low mileage, and I've been getting insurance quotes like mad and I've just found one so I'll prob be going for that as long as finance checks out. Cheers anywho! -
Re: TSR Motorbike Society- take 3!free airbox?(Original post by Bathwiggle)

i can collect it. -
Just passed my test and I'm officially a biker! I phoned up my insurance to tell them and they increased my insurance by £200!! I'm like wut? However on the covering letter they emailed to me with today's date, they haven't updated the price so does that mean if they take more from me than what it says on the letter then I can complain?

Re: TSR Motorbike Society- take 3!I don't think any of us can quiet understand the mysteries of insurance, it may be best just to give them a ring. Sometimes changing your policy can cause things to be bumped up a bit (as well as admin charges being brought in) what may end being cheapest is going to gocompare or wherever and seeing how much insurance would be now you're a "big boy" and then ring up your insurer, if they say it's gonna go up £200 just cancel your policy and take out another that's £200 cheaper, I had to do something similar!(Original post by ShafiqJ)

on a trailer?
personally id go look at it, and leave without buying it (when you go look you will be excited about it, meaning you'll buy it even if its a bad idea)
the next day, if you've decided you still want it, then phone the buyer and tell them, then buy some insutance for the bike, get a bus there and ride it home. -
Re: TSR Motorbike Society- take 3!Make sure he has all the paperwork. Arrange a viewing and if you want it you'll have to arrange insurance and go back for it after. So long as it is also taxed and has valid MOT.(Original post by 0906079)

Also, rossi going hack to Yamaha for next two years.
Should see some more wins hopefully...
Leaves Ducati seat open for cal or dovi as well. -
Insurance is with mce, I've heard some stories where they turn nasty when you cancel and ask you to cough up the rest of the premium, failing that they start to send bailiff letters. I'm not sure how they do insurance, but it's through some finance company.(Original post by Chilledice)

Re: TSR Motorbike Society- take 3!If you cancel usually you get the remaining months back minus any admin fees....(Original post by ShafiqJ)

Honda CBR 125 RW-5 2004. Runs fine, a few scratches on the bike and the petrol indicator isn't working but nothing major. He's gonna renew the tax for me but the MOT runs out this month. Apparently the chain would need replacing in a while and the rear brake too. Clutch feels a bit loose but rideable.
Guy who owns it sounds like a very nice and honest person so I doubt there' something he's not telling me but the bike rides fine.
He's dropping it off tomorrow to my house, £900. Anything I should ask or look for and is that a decent deal?
Any tips for insurance, security locks, etc? Cheapest insurance I'm getting ATM is £560 third party which seems a little much, or no?Last edited by 0906079; 11-08-2012 at 20:29. -
Re: TSR Motorbike Society- take 3!I think so, lol.(Original post by crazyjoyce)

In other news, almost had my first proper off going around this corner (at a very sensible 25mphish!!) but there was lots of gravel and I started to skid sideways here. Somehow I managed to kick off with my foot, miss the house and avoid the post. Then sat somewhat bemused at not crashing for a couple of seconds. I need to buy some crash bungs

Bros never used to.
