You're right it does but I've been quite lucky in that respect. I've had mine for over ten years now and it's only just started going.

I think you chose a wise decision.
I think getting a proper stand up piano is going to be far better than any digital you may get. Once you've gone acoustic though, you will not want to really go back to using a digital.
That said, electric guitars are awesome
