Wow you should stop worrying about it then. I averaged like 36 in mocks and still did passable for the real one.

They really briefly talked about my PS at the start, but I think that was just to make me comfortable.

Re: The Oxford TSA thread - 2011
Can someone explain the answer to question 40 of the 2011 TSA to me? I put C, but the answer is D. The reason I did this was cos C isn't directly stated, but rather implied in the sentence "It is often a poor economic practice to skimp on the production costs of a product, even when you are only interested in the eventual monetary profit to be made from it." D, however, seems to be explicitly stated: "This would not serve the needs of the current generation of students, and even from a narrow economic viewpoint, it would not promote economic prosperity in the long term." I thought underlying assumptions were supposed to be premises of an argument which are not explicitly stated?

University education is not a matter of forcing through the largest number of graduates at
the lowest possible short-term cost. This would not serve the needs of the current
generation of students and, even from a narrow economic viewpoint, it would not promote
economic prosperity in the long term. It is often a poor economic practice to skimp on the
production costs of a product, even when you are only interested in the eventual
monetary profit to be made from it. But in any event university education has wider
purposes than merely the promotion of economic prosperity.
Which of the following is an underlying assumption of the above argument?
A The principal purpose of university education is to serve the needs of the
    present generation of students.
B The principal purpose of university education is to promote the long term
    economic prosperity of the community.
C The more money the manufacturer spends on the production of a product, the
greater the eventual profit is likely to be.
D Policies of cost-cutting are likely to reduce the extent to which the university
education will achieve its overall purpose.
E Universities should be managed so as to make a monetary profit, but they
should also promote certain non-financial values.

I only used this book (http://www.amazon.co.uk/Thinking-Ski...1691956&sr=8-1) and found it to be comprehensive and easy-going.

Hi everyone, I just had a go at the multiple choice section of a TSA paper timed. I was wondering if 39/50 (78%) is a considered a good score. Would i need more practice to do well enough to get an interview? thankss

Which paper was this? Was it the specimen, I think some people noted they did considerably better in te specimen than the real thing. If not, yeah, I think that's above average and if your academia is 'up to scratch' would probably lead to interview invitation. Most people say you can't practice really but that they read te book mentioned on the Cambridgeasssessment website.

Erm, it's one of the sample ones in a book I bought.. not one on the site, so I don't know how that compares, but it's not the specimen on the website. I'll have a go at one of the actual past ones at some point then

Could you tell me which book you're using that contains TSA samples?
