Re: What political party do you support? (Poll)
More conservative than Labour?... Mind= Blown.
And what happened to all the UKIP support? And why do we have almost as much supporting the BNP than the greens? Has TSR really sunk that low?
Doesn't really matter to be honest; if the BNP continues going the same way, it'll be bankrupt long before the general election in 2015.
Edit: and who the hell are these 'other parties', which apparently 11% (quite a lot considering all 6 are there) support?Last edited by Bulbasaur; 24-06-2011 at 17:51. -
Re: What political party do you support? (Poll)I'm guessing that when people vote "other" they probably mean none. I should have made "none" a category...(Original post by Bulbasaur)

Re: What political party do you support? (Poll)
What annoys me about politics (and why i can understand some people not bothering to vote) is that some people vote for a party regardless of their actual political allignment.
A classic example is Labour, while they are left of the Conservative Party they are actually centre right on the political spectrum. Despite this, 'socialists' seem unwilling to take the plunge and vote for the Green Party which is the most socialist mainstream political party.
While i support the Conservative Party i actually think that politics does need genuine opposition rather than two similar parties because that is how you get the radical 'life changing' policies. All you get in current Conservative > Labour system is populism and nothing very radical. -
Re: What political party do you support? (Poll)Did they come 2nd in any seats they contested last year?(Original post by CandyFlipper)

Re: What political party do you support? (Poll)
Other- in my case this means Democratic Unionists (DUP) supporter.N Ireland is very different politically from the rest of the UK.For those who don't know, the DUP are basically a conservative party but generally more right wing than the Tory party in England. The party also has a strong religious (Protestant) orientation eg my local DUP MP is the Rev. Mccrea, a fiery preacher and gospel singer.Being a man of the cloth stands him in good stead at election time as he is perceived to be (wrongly perhaps ) more morally upright and incorruptible, unlike many of our MPs at present.

Re: What political party do you support? (Poll)
None of them any more. Have supported the Tories, Lib Dems and Greens . . . sick of party politics in general.
When I vote in elections in future I won't give a damn what rosette they're wearing, but on how they come across personally, their views on national and local issues important to me and, if they've been an MP before, their voting record in Parliament. Perhaps I just won't vote, TBH - 85% of our constituencies are so safe for one party or another that it's just not worth voting at all because it accomplishes nothing. I love politics but our electoral system is a mess and our parties are one big combined joke.Last edited by Aphotic Cosmos; 25-06-2011 at 08:27. -
Re: What political party do you support? (Poll)There are a few decent politicians but the majority seem not to have had a career in anything other than politics and are detached from the world the rest of us inhabit.(Original post by foxo)
None. I am far from apolitical (I'm a politics student) but they're all a bunch of spineless bastards. -
Re: What political party do you support? (Poll)
I wish the British public would be more open to coalitions, I genuinely think have two parties having to work together moderating each other is a good thing, and more of the public is represented in government.
I don't really follow the 'we didn't vote for this' argument. -

This is TSR. It's full of ***** who wish they were yuppies living under Thatcher.
TSR is not full of Thatcherites. She was a neo Liberal. Yeah I like her social policies, but Thatcher's economic policies? They're despised by almost everyone on TSR -
Re: What political party do you support? (Poll)I was thinking the exact same thing, sure I don't agree with somebody who votes anything right-wing but it's up to them to do it, they have their reasons.(Original post by stayd001)
Why is it that on politics threads, everyone gets negged for stating their opinion?
In response to the OP: Green, as they're the only real left-wing party now, although I would be fearful if they did actually get in government as things stand, however I'm sure if they were contenders they'd sort stuff out. -
Re: What political party do you support? (Poll)True to an extent. It's just about people viewing Labour as the lesser evil really. Also, in this "democracy" what's the point in voting for Green when you live in a seat where Labour/Tory are going to win?(Original post by Rakas21)

Until we get proportional representation it's just not worth it voting what you actually think. (Saying that, I do and have voted Green)
