Re: pharmacy applicants 2012
Sent lsop this email. I'll post the answers asap
;
I have offers from both UCL school of pharmacy - (LSOP) and Kings college for the MPharm undergraduate degree. I am finding it difficult to choose between the two as my firm. However the fact that LSOP is now merging with UCL is a significant factor in my and other potential UCL students' consideration of choosing LSOP.
The questions which have not been answered from both UCL's and LSOP's websites are as follows:
How will the merging effect me as a pharmacy student?;
- Will I be held under UCL's accommodation or LSOP's?
If UCL, will I be integrated with UCL students -(non pharmacy) in accommodation or just the LSOP- (pharmacy) students?
- Will I be confined to the LSOP building or will a significant amount of my time be in UCL itself i.e the campus, Lectures, student unions and societies etc
- Will the merging effect the course presented by LSOP in any way?
Overall am I going to activley be apart of UCL or just attend LSOP under UCL's name?
Answers to these questions will give me and other applicants the ability to make a well informed descision, also, due to many of my peers having similar questions the answers will be beneficial to not only to me but many other potential UCL students, therefore detail would be much appreciated.
Many thanks -
Re: pharmacy applicants 2012
just came back from my nottingham interview and it was brilliant! also the campus tour was good! met some really friendly people too! the bus ride was good from the station.
they asked,
why pharmacy, why nottingham, tell me about your work experience, two maths problems. a long division which i did alright and the small multiplication like 0.07 * 0.08 was annoying because of the decimal places. the article i was emailed before to read was good , it was on diabetes and they asked why is asthma taken as an inhaler and not through a tablet etc. -

And for the ethical question, do they give you paper to answer it and think about the answer or do they require you to answer straight away? And two interviewers! OH MAN!

Re: pharmacy applicants 2012
Had an interview at LJMU. It was awful! I hated the interview arrangement. You're in a room full with 7 other candidates and they ask you the same qs each one at a time. They may aswell have called it a one-to-one interview rather than group! People were alright but wasn't too keen on the test either

Re: pharmacy applicants 2012Hi i had mine recently and spent ages trying to find someone to give me advice, so here i am...(Original post by Talzz)
Heyy has anyone had an interview at hertfordshire. If soo i wud really appreciate your help on what kind of questions they asked and what anwsers they looked for thankss
its a group interview of appox 5+/- students in 1 room to two interviewers. they ask the questions listed below. they might start from right hand side and next question start from left hand side, or sometimes in middle, sometimes ask u by name, but the outshot is, everyone is asked the same question and they want you to put your input and thoughts into it too. obv for questions such as "why herts" you wouldn't want to stop a person saying something as its thier opinion on things but the other question have a input. I learnt do not be sooo quiet nor tooo loud. Talk enough about ur own answer and enough when adding onto others answers. BUT MAKE UR SELF HEARD, SOUND CONFIDENT.
they ask:
1) why pharmacy?
2) why hertfordshire?
3) "why are drugs made to have different pH?" - noone was really sure so learn about it properly, we all were saying how a acidic drug if it is to be takien orally and enters stomach it can cause excess acid etc but we wern't sure
4) why are some drugs taken orally and some injected/rubbed/sprayed - reate to insulin and how if insulin was taken orally it would be digested in our intestine and would not take any effect and more needs to be provided with a higher dosage so its easier to inject etc
5) "enantiomers" - why drugs have enantiomers and its affect - relate to thalidomide research it,
6) what skills do you think a pharmacist needs most?
7) how should a pharmacist be outisde work? - was worded differently but yh u just say how they are pharmacist inside and outside the uni, obide by uni rules code of conduct, need to be mature and responcible for them selves because their job is to be responsible for others, etc etc
not much need to panic, get stuck in, act vvv freindly, smile a lot, dont be nervous, its pretty relaxed tho, feel free to quote me ppl any questions!! -

Re: pharmacy applicants 2012thanks for your reply! and good luck! (:(Original post by 147madz)
Hey, I had a Cardiff interview in December.. It actually went kinda bad , even before the interview I had the head of admissions shout at me for going upstairs , so don't do that LOL and he interviewed me which I thought was going to be a nightmare but it wasn't too bad, he asked me about carbonyl compuds that's because I mentioned it in my personal statement, asked my Cardiff , asked me to talk about myself, antibiotics aswell, but what I'd say to you of don't waffle, get straight to the point. And a week later I had an offer
Hope that helped, I have reading tomorrow, so underprepared
