Default C2 Question on Circles

I've got these two problems on circles EX 4F, Q5.
5) "The line y=0 is a tangent to the circle (x-8)^2+(y-a)^2=16. Find the value of a."

AND

9) "The circle centre (p,q) radius 25 meets the x-axis at (-7,0) and (7,0), where q>0.
a) Find the value of p and q."

Please help,
thanks!

5) Try sketching the graph, you just might be in for a pleasant surprise.

9) Circle meets x-axis at -7 and 7, indicating that there's a symmetry. Do a quick sketch, if you're still stuck try using pyhtagoras.
