Any help mch appreciated.

Please consider the following:



This is an extremely small scale example with many more rows and columns of data which are not required at this stage.

Basically what I want to do is compare the two scores from each year by subtracting one another.

I have tried the following:

=vlookup(a2,$a$2:colondollar:c$10,3,false) - The same but using the data for 2011 which is in a different spreadsheet, but for the ease of this example pretend they are in the same.

Now at first this would seem to work when i copy this formula down by the usual copying a formla in excel. However due to members joining and leaving it does not work. For example when it gets to H5 it compares the scores of donald and laura.

Does anyone know a way round this?
