Cross first (if I persuade my parents to let me have it done)

Basically they don't want me to have tattoos, I'd like the cross on my inside wrist so they would find out. If I can't persuade them then I'd go for one of the lyrics on back of neck or on foot or back of hip as they're less likely to see them!
Ah, I would guess that most parents have a front up against tattoos because well..they're parents and that actually once you have concrete plans/actually get it done they do calm down about it

Could you not wait to get it if/when you move out? Or go to university? (I'm assuming, as it is the student room ). That way you can get it done, and by the time they see it you can say you've had it for ages, and just go back to your own place for a few days until things cool off.

My dad used to hate the idea of me getting one, but after I got my first, he realised there was nothing he could do about it now and was fine with it. I think parents put up a big talk to put you off doing it, but when you actually do it, they can't reverse it so calm down after a few days and accept it. So I'd say go for it!
I'm already at uni (hence how I was able to get cartilage piercing and nose piercing) but because uni is Scotland and home is south England can't just disappear for a few days...

I doubt mine would calm down.

I want one of my lyrics on the side of my foot, one of them on back of neck, one on back of hip. The cross is going on my wrist and the dove I haven't decided on placement yet, but possible next to one of my lyrics.

Sounds good, what you going to get first? Or are you going for a mega session and getting them all at once, that'd be pretty awesome although your parents would probably destroy you if you came home with not one but five tattoos.

Any particular style for the dove or the cross? Celtic, traditional, black and grey, colour etc?

I'm going through the process now of booking my next one, want an hourglass with roses, full colour

I'd get cross done first. It would just be a plain black cross. Very simple, no ornamentation, and small enough to be covered with a watch strap.

    Dove I'm debating between

    and

as general ideas, I guess my decision between something more stylised or something simpler would depend on my placement

I really like that first dove! Its swirly and nice .

You'd have to speak to your tattooist about where the design you chose would fit best, they are the artist after all! I spend literally years trying to develop designs and work out placement when it would probably take a tattoo artist 5 minutes if I went in

It is gorgeously swirly, although I wouldn't have the eye like that. But if I end up having it next to lyrics then the other one I think would work better as you could have the lyrics coming out from the gap between wing and tail.

I think that'd look especially good if they came out along the contour of the wing and tail; as in they came out following the swirling pattern. :daydreaming:

This is probably a really stupid and naive question, but in this video, near the beginning, is the red/pink stuff around the needle blood or ink?

So what are people's opinions on lyric tattoos? I really love the line "show a little faith, there's magic in the night, you ain't a beauty but hey, you're alright" from Thunder Road by Bruce Springsteen. But I don't know where I'd get it. Don't want anything on my lower back so I was thinking down my side?

Sorry, only just seen this! I want a feather disintegrating into birds at the top (I know it's a bit cliche now, but I've been planning it for a couple of years) along the side of my stomach up towards my underarm, and then on my hip on the other side coming across to my stomach I'd like a cherry blossom with branches coming across and 'love fearlessly' underneath. Yes, I'm a softie

I dunno if its good advice or not but I was advised to put more clingfilm on for the first night in case there was excess ink or something so that it didn't stain my bed
