Re: Tattoo Appreciation Soc. Tattoo ThreadThere seems to be a 50/50 split in advice regarding this matter..(Original post by boba)
I dunno if its good advice or not but I was advised to put more clingfilm on for the first night in case there was excess ink or something so that it didn't stain my bed
In all fairness, it won't do any harm to re-wrap it for the first night, providing you cleaned it initially and applied something like Bepanthen.
I personally don't re-wrap.. it can make a mess of the duvet cover but I think it's best to let it air out.
It's your choice really

I wouldn't, I was told to take mine off within an hour, I also think it's best to let air get to it.
I didn't start loosing ink until four or five days after

Re: Tattoo Appreciation Soc. Tattoo ThreadNot that much of a softie to get a tattoo near your side and ribs! I heard its pretty painful.(Original post by sunlightxstarbright)
Sorry, only just seen this! I want a feather disintegrating into birds at the top (I know it's a bit cliche now, but I've been planning it for a couple of years) along the side of my stomach up towards my underarm, and then on my hip on the other side coming across to my stomach I'd like a cherry blossom with branches coming across and 'love fearlessly' underneath. Yes, I'm a softie
I really like cherry blossom tattoos
. What style? I've seen ones with a black outline http://slices-of-life.com/PICS/cherr...som_tattoo.jpg
and then ones like this more Japanese style without the outline http://slices-of-life.com/PICS/cherr...ide-Tattoo.jpg -
Re: Tattoo Appreciation Soc. Tattoo Thread
Howdy!
Just a quick question has anybody seen any Ishlangu (the African Zulu shield) tattoos? I'm after a black and white one to symbolize when i used to live there, but I've only ever seen one other and i didn't like how the cow hide pattern had been done, essentially i was just wondering if anybody on here had one? -
Re: Tattoo Appreciation Soc. Tattoo ThreadI've got a really high pain tolerance, thankfully, so I want that to go in my favour(Original post by jayryan13)

Definitely more like the second one, I just think it sits nicer on the skin. The first looks too.. cartoon-like, I suppose? Just gotta save the money up now
-
Re: Tattoo Appreciation Soc. Tattoo ThreadYeah I prefer the second one as well, its more authentic and prettier. It annoys me when people like Ami James from Miami ink say they specialise in Japanese work but then insist on doing everything with outline, including things like cherry blossom.(Original post by sunlightxstarbright)

Be sure to upload it to the society page when its done!

Re: Tattoo Appreciation Soc. Tattoo Thread
I think this is the right place, but I need a bit of help. I want to get my first tattoo and I want to get a tribute to my Nan and Grandad who have both passed away.
I don't want to get their names on me or anything like that, but I was thinking of getting 'semper in corde meo' (forever in my heart in Latin). I'm unsure where to get it though.
Oh and I'm male. I just wondered if anyone had any advice they could give me? Thanks in advance
-
Re: Tattoo Appreciation Soc. Tattoo ThreadI'd say do some research over the internet of artists in your area, most have internet pages or a myspace etc. If you find an artist you really like, get in touch with them to discuss your ideas.(Original post by randomer1122)

If not, look further afield. Its really easy to get to London by train, and there a loads of great studios in London that you could look at. Quite pricey though in central -
Re: Tattoo Appreciation Soc. Tattoo Thread

Need to get one or two of the letters fixed up and it is slightly wonky but I actually love it, it looks like real handwriting. Verdict on pain is fairly bad on the front of ribs, relaxing nice on the rest.
the 'millionaire' looks so dodgy in photos, its actually not bad lol.Last edited by stargirl2012; 29-07-2011 at 13:22. -

That really confused me, until I realised you meant 'veritas'. -
Re: Tattoo Appreciation Soc. Tattoo Thread
Hey all, I posted this in the other thread, but thought I would get more feedback in this thread

Anyway, I quite like the thought of getting this tattoo'd onto my back (perhaps lower back), but I was hoping that the right side would spread and expand out a bit more - kind of like the bird/feather tattoos that I've seen around the internet.
I'm unsure how nice it would look if I were to make it bigger, though. I was told by zjs that it would probably lose it's allure if it were made a bit bigger, but I quite like the detail the artist could put into the little butterflies and those details would only really show if the overall scale was larger.
What do you guys think? I'm going a quote a few people I think would be interested in helping me, but feel free to let me know your opinions anyway!

I like it, seeing the bird and feather tattoo it gives a nice example of the way it would look.
Like you had said, about zjs saying making it bigger could in fact make it lose its character. As you would be adding what isn't there i.e the detail on the butterflies. But having said that it could also make it better not to mention it would be more unique.
What you could try is have a larger version sketched up with detail to see if you like it?

Re: Tattoo Appreciation Soc. Tattoo ThreadI really, really wish I knew people with the ability to draw! I don't want to go into the studio and waste someone's time by drawing something detailed and beautiful, only to have me turn it down!(Original post by Griffin23)

But yeah, I really like the idea of having it spread out like the birds. And that butterfly picture practically spoke to me! As soon as I saw it, I knew I wanted it

Re: Tattoo Appreciation Soc. Tattoo ThreadSurely you may find someone? Perhaps even in the creative corner (I think thats what its called) part of the forum. Also it couldn't hurt getting a tattoo artist opinion on the resizing(Original post by Delta_Aitch)

even just pop in and ask them how they think it would work
If/when you do get it, you must get pics

Re: Tattoo Appreciation Soc. Tattoo ThreadLool yeah, I was thinking of asking someone from the art soc at uni to help a brother out(Original post by Griffin23)
