Re: Nottingham Applicants for 2012 entryYeah ofcourse! I'm not even sure that Nottingham minds that much about GCSEs at all. If you show clear progressions and, more importantly, an interest in your subject you should be fine. Besides, those GCSEs are pretty good(Original post by ShyBaby)
What sort of GCSE grades do they allow?
I have A*AABBBBBBB ... Do I stand a chance?

Re: Nottingham Applicants for 2012 entry
French and Beginners' Spanish, RR41.
I'm definitely gonna apply because I loved it when I visited and would regret it for ages if I didn't give it a shot, but since the requirements are AAB and I only got AAD at AS, I'm not sure how much of a chance I stand.Last edited by Liam6993; 08-09-2011 at 20:53. -
Re: Nottingham Applicants for 2012 entryThe campus certainly lived up to my expectations when I went to the open day in June, so hopefully you'll be impressed as well.(Original post by SimplyComplex)
I'm applying for French and beginners German. I absolutely LOVE the look of the campus from the website and prospectus. I'm hoping it lives up to expectations when I go to the open day on Saturday.
Anyone else going to the open day on Saturday?

And yaaaaaaay, another language applicant!

Re: Nottingham Applicants for 2012 entryIf you have a great personal statement, they might overlook the blip at AS. I got bbcc, applied for an AAB course, got an offer which my teachers says was probably due to my PS. The icing on the cake was they gave me a lower offer too! And then I managed to turn one of the c's into an A*!(Original post by Liam6993)

You could apply to Cambridge with those grades, let alone Notts!(Original post by KlyD)
Hopefully economics L100! You think I can get in with:
Maths- A*
Eco- A*
Physics- A
Chemistry-A*
I will most probaly drop physics though.

I guess when you had the offer, you were determined to meet it at all costs, right? Hopefully, if I do get an offer, I'll be more than determined to meet it. Missing it would be a shame

Re: Nottingham Applicants for 2012 entryNot gonna lie, there were times where I just felt like giving up - be prepared for the stress of A2! But yeah, with the fee rises and the embarassment of missing my place, kicked me into gear. I was revising from February half-term onwards.(Original post by -Illmatic-)

I've finished it
You seem to be insinuating the PS played a monumental part in your offer better get that perfect then
Not sure my PS is up to scratch just yet though

Re: Nottingham Applicants for 2012 entry
Went to the uni today and it was amazing! Beautiful campus and i'm definately applying there for philosophy. Only thing is that they all seem very smart, one guy got onto my course with A*A*A, while i'm aiming for ABB. Really hope i get an offer.
Does anybody have any advice for philosophy personal statements? -
Re: Nottingham Applicants for 2012 entryWell everything else about my application was just 'average', and when it's nearly seven people fighting for a place, something I did must have got me my offer and my teachers said my PS was good, so I'm guessing that must be what got me my offer. Just get your teacher (your tutor or subject teacher) to read it. I got at three teachers to go through mine just to get it perfect. I refused to let anyone else who was applying for the same course to read it though!(Original post by -Illmatic-)

Loads of people on my course got at least 2As, I feel so stupid in comparison!(Original post by IceCool)

Didn't go to the open day, but from what I've heard/read it sounds nice.
