I hear ya dude. I can't do bands like Nile. Too much tech not enough balls. You should get yourself a 7 string - I picked one up the other day...

I've had an RG7321 for a few years, been meaning to get a 7 string with a floating bridge for a while but never got round to it. Might go try some out over the weekend. ;o

Bit of industrial metal can't hurt.

See, I like Nile, but I wouldn't go as far to say that they're better than Lykathea Aflame, Appalling Spawn, Gorguts, etc.

Not sure if this counts but you have to credit the snare rolls, man.

I assume you mean a snare drum tuned tightly. You also have to remember that it is not always because of the snare itself, or the style of the drummer, a huge part of the drumkits sound is how it is mixed. A very tight snare sound will be gated with a very quick release and barely any sustain. That is why you get that quick and tight sound a snare.

Here are a few examples of a tight sound.

what can I say? It's my kind of thread :colondollar:

but you're right, I should contribute to a thread if I'm going to necro

I find Allegaeon's drumming really sharp, and always really high in the mix, almost overpowering

kind of related; the drumming reminds me of The Negation in places:

Bloc Party's first album has some insane drumming. Matt Tong is sick.

Any recommendations?

If you want great drumming and you like metal, listen to pretty much any Mastodon song (older stuff has more of the virtuoso drumming)
