Re: Aspiring Journalists!Well my mum is an architect type person, and she designs some of the posh country houses that a fair few journalists own, so I came into contact with them that way. Although to be honest, they've given me a few names and a bit of advice, which I probably could have come across myself anyway =)(Original post by adam_zed)
How did you come into contact with such people? I think lack of contacts will be my biggest weakness to be honest. I really wanted to be a correspondent for the Economist before I realised that most of its journalists got there by oxbridge connections.
If you're interested in journalism then I would just say go for it, despite what people say there will always be a need for journalists because times keep changing, and we have the newest, most modern views on our own politics/ economics etc.
I've been strongly advised to look at city university london, I went to the open day and loved it. Its not accredited by the NCTJ etc but its a really good location with a really good course. Three As though =/
Good luck =D <3 -
Re: Aspiring Journalists! What are you doing at uni?(Original post by -aimz)
I'd like to be a journalist! Not really sure what type yet...maybe print/broadcast. I've worked at my local newspaper for a week and last year I edited my school magazine which was interesting. Hopefully I'll get some more experience at uni and see if it's really for me.

Re: Aspiring Journalists!Hopefully English Literature if I get in! I chose the Cardiff course because you can do modules in Cultural Criticism which really interests me as I'd love to go into journalism about that. And the uni has great credited Journalism courses if I wanted to do one of those after my first degree.
