Honestly, this is not an indication of the experiences of 99.9% of the students here.

Pretty good, it has to be as the town is so small! The nights out are decent but when you venture into town I'd recommend Echos on a Saturday (or Friday if you're skipping FND), and Rain on a Monday. In the Union you have three rooms: Fusion, Cogs and Room 1. Fusion is the more indie/pop punk/cheesey room depending on the night; Cogs is the urban room and Room 1 is where they play the chart music.

Of course, there's all the volunteering opportunities which is a great way to meet new people. Loughborough's student union is one of the best in the country

Totally agreed =D it's a pretty decent night out but where it really stands out is the societies, RAG, action, media and AU parts.

There's sooo many opportunities to get involved.

Does anyone have any prefrences between PC and Mac at Loughborough? i.e. does anyone have problems with either due to the way the university system is run etc.

Looking to buy a laptop for next year and don't want to run into problems if one is considerably less compatable. Hopefully going to be doing automotive engineering if that makes any difference.

    Thanks

Yeah but I applied late so the room reservations didn't have the rooms I wanted so I did room preferencing. I'm looking forward to the auto course very much lol.

The union has 3 great nights each week!! Hey ewe on Wednesday and FND on Friday is when the whole union is open. Drinks are about £1.50-£2.50. On a Tuesday it's Stupid Tuesday where only one room is open but most drinks are £1!!!
There are Loads of other bars and clubs in town including Rain, Vice Versa, EQ, varsity and revs! Vice Versa has the cheapest drinks on a Sunday. You'll have the opportunity to visit all of them in Freshers Week!!

EQ is not that expensive. I only used to go there on a Sunday before WILD moved to vice and j-bombs and some shots were £1!

I got my registration forms in the post yesterday, so I think I can pay the room bond now (haven't done it yet, though). I don't know if that's the welcome pack or not, but it had that B***** or whatever number at the top so I assume that's what I was supposed to be waiting for. It's all a bit confusing though!

EDIT: I've just received an email from the SAC with my registration number (same as on the letter) and saying that I have 8 days to pay the room bond. Hopefully you'll get yours soon

Hey, where about's are you from?
If you are outside the UK, I wouldn't hold my breath if I was you. I was living in Spain before going to Loughborough and I didn't recieve one, I was very dissappointed when all the people I had gotten talking to at Loughborough did. I have my fingers crossed that you are luckier than I was though.
