ECA transfer - impossible?
Here's the thing: i have a confirmed place at QMU to study theatre and film so i'm going there. I also applied for film and television at ECA but because i applied pretty much at the last minute i missed the portfolio deadline(my camera broke!) and of course i was rejected.. i really wanted to go to edinburgh so i chose QMU. But afterwards i've realized how badly i would have wanted to study at ECA; the course, institution and everything about it seems better.. it appears to me that compared to QMU they have more practical stuff and they are more into experimental things etc which is really how i'd like to be studying in the future.
So... i was thinking, is it possible for me to study at QMU for one year and then somehow transfer directly to second year at ECA so that I wouldn't lose my financial support? I wouldn't want to give up my place at QMU if i didn't happen to get in and i also wouldn't want my studies extend to five years instead of four. Is this too far-fetched an idea or has somebody actually done that before? It might be easier in other more academic subjects i dunno but i doubt it is as simple as that when it comes to film?
I hope someone has something to say about this. Any kind of advice would be appreciated! Thanks

Re: ECA transfer - impossible?
I found this from the ECA website:
"Entry from another university
If you have satisfactorily completed one or more years at a recognised university, including the Open University, you may be admitted to a degree course. The year at which you enter the new programme will be assessed on an individual basis. Contact the Academic Registry for further information."
Does this mean I have a chance to enter at second year after completing the first year at QMU?
I've got the idea that the first year at ECA is mostly just painting and stuff even if you were a film&TV student?

Re: ECA transfer - impossible?I very much doubt that anyone here can tell you this with any authority. Phone up ECA and ask to speak to lovely Cameron in the admissions office.(Original post by Grungegurgle)

Re: ECA transfer - impossible? As of August 1st ECA will be in ACE in the University of Edinburgh. This is UofE's line on transfers: http://www.ed.ac.uk/studying/undergr...lying/transfer (You want to look at the College of Humanities and Social Science) -
Re: ECA transfer - impossible? How on earth did you manage that? Well done btw(Original post by LuellaRuth)
You can always apply, they will look at individual cases and asses you on your work. (I have transferred from Glasgow school of art to Central Saint martins before!)
Good luck!
