Re: A Song of Ice and Fire
So, all, I've just finished reading A dance with dragons, and I'm reminded of some questions I had.
1-Was Renly Baratheon gay?
I've seen a fairly convincing case made for him and Loras going at it, but then I'm sure in A Feast of Crows(maybe?) as Cersei's POV, she doesn't believe Margaery is a virgin after having been married to Renly?
2-I also recall Pycelle saying Margaery took the no-kids potion a bit, so she must've been getting off with someone?(He seemed to stick with this even when not talking to Cersei, so I feel this is probably true.)
I vaguely recall it seemed like there was a suggestion of another incestuous thing there, ie her and Loras?
I can't really remember this(read up to ADWD at christmas, and just picked it up and read it now), and don't have any of the books preceding ADwD to check, so if anybody could, that'd be fab! -

I seem to remember Stannis hinting that he knew in ACOK? I don't think it would have been well publicised anyway, so it's unlikely that Cersei would have known and so as far as she's concerned she believes that Margaery wasn't a virgin.
Margaery taking the moon-tea (?) does make it seem like she is getting off with someone but I hope not because who would really be that stupid?! -

Margaery taking the moon-tea (?) does make it seem like she is getting off with someone but I hope not because who would really be that stupid?!Spoiler:ShowI think Jaime hints at it when talking to Loras(and Tyrion at one point hints Loras is gay)+he seems super close to Renly, but I'm not certain.
Spoiler:ShowI thought perhaps she'd have some experience of what Renly was like, given Robert was his brother, and thought he'd perhaps taken after Robert in his womanising ways, which was the tone I got from it?
Fair play, Cersei projecting that bit does seem more likely, but you'd think she'd have noticed someone having an affair with Margaery given how much she seemed to have her followed!
No idea about how the moon tea workings though.. -

Spoiler:ShowI think Jaime hints at it when talking to Loras(and Tyrion at one point hints Loras is gay)+he seems super close to Renly, but I'm not certain.Spoiler:ShowI don't remember it from Tyrion, but Jaime does and Loras doesn't really object. Bear in mind that with GRRM involved in the TV series, he wouldn't let them randomly hijack someone.
Spoiler:ShowI thought perhaps she'd have some experience of what Renly was like, given Robert was his brother, and thought he'd perhaps taken after Robert in his womanising ways, which was the tone I got from it?

No idea about how the moon tea workings though..Spoiler:ShowWhy would he have taken after Robert? Stannis certainly didn't. And there's probably an argument that the only reason Robert slept around was because Cersei was cold to him (for various reasons including Jaime and also Robert saying the wrong name).
She probably would have noticed if Margaery wasn't careful enough, but I'm still open to the possibility that she's screwing someone at King's Landing and careful enough to avoid detection. That or she's pregnant from prior to arriving and is desperately trying to get rid of the baby. Moon tea definitely means Margaery feels she might be pregnant though, which then means she's no virgin. -
Re: A Song of Ice and FireReally? I just finished the first Dany chapter of ASOS and although I like it I thought ACOK was incredible. Although I suppose I am basically at the beginning, 100+ pages isn't much to GRRM(Original post by Yoghurt)
I'm about 1/4 of the way through A Storm of Swords: Part 1 and I must say I am already enjoying it much more than A Clash of Kings! -
Re: A Song of Ice and FireI just found the pacing to ACOK a bit off, went from loads happening in one chapter to nothing happening in others. I felt it was saved somewhat by an excellent last 6 or 7 chapters. Whereas so far in ASOS it seems to flow a lot better with very little filler so far.(Original post by metalthrashin'mad)

Might be wrong though. -

Pycelle was always one of her cronies
Also, I accidentally pressed the neg-rep button when trying for "Quote". My apologies, I'll +rep a different post of yours to balance it out.Last edited by LiberiFatali; 15-05-2012 at 16:02. -

Re: A Song of Ice and Fire
Random question guys- do you reckon the Stark sigil used in the show's promotional stuff would be copyrighted? I'm getting some new headphones where you can have a design of your choice engraved on the side and it dawned on me how awesome it would be to have the below artwork on them, but the site can only do it with uncopyrighted images. What do you guys reckon?

Re: A Song of Ice and FireI think it has been tbh, House sigils are popular on the merchandise that's popping up.(Original post by Gofre)

Still it's still fairly new and probably not widely recognised. Might be worth a shot, because the design is awesome. -
Re: A Song of Ice and Fire
I loved the first book but I've really slowed down at the third book and I've become so bored of A Storm of Swords. I find Jon and the onion dude's storyline so boring. Love Arya, Tyrion and Daenerys storyline. Does the story get any better guys because I feel like just giving up.

Re: A Song of Ice and FireStorm of Swords is the best book in the series, definitely keep reading and you'll be shocked. Seriously.(Original post by HeavyTeddy)

Re: A Song of Ice and FireIt diverges here and there, which is a stark contrast to the utterly faithful first season, and it picks up plot elements from the third book. But overall, it's pretty faithful.(Original post by coconut2456)
For people who have read the books and seen the second season: how closely did the second season follow the books? -
Re: A Song of Ice and FireIt deviates a lot more than the first series which is practically word-for-word, from what I've heard in the form of spoilers there's a ridiculously huge change in continuity tonight. If you're thinking of going straight from season 2 into book 3, I wouldn't, I'd read book 2 first.(Original post by coconut2456)

) so suspects the same of Margaery.
