It can't just be me who genuinely heartbroken when...

    Spoiler:
    Show
Shae betrayed Tyrion. I KNOW she was a whore, but I honestly believed their relationship. I liked the way they were with each other, I liked Shae and I though there really was something there. When she stabbed him in the back during the trial I was devastated and when he strangled her I had to choke back a tear!

A Storm of Swords Part 2 is by far the best book in the series so far, and one of the best books I've ever had the pleasure to read. So many twists and turns and shocks.
I don't like how the paperback is in two parts. I have the hardback when it's all together and it just makes the heartbreak all the sweeter

In fairness, I was so gripped that it barely mattered! I read through them both so quickly that they could easily have been one book!

Picking up Game of Thrones and probably Clash of Kings today.

Hopefully they're as epic as I've been told.

And I pretty much cheered when Tyrion put a crossbow bolt into his insufferable father!! It's strange. the Lannisters have so many dislikable characters (Tywin, Cersei, Joffrey) but they also have two of my absolute favourite characters- Jaime and Tyrion.

Yeah that is completely true. I find Jaime gets better over time, at the start of the series he was as bad as Cersei!

I wonder how long until book 6 :moon: So many things I want to find out :teeth:

Yeah. He starts off an arrogant dick. When he first becomes a PoV character he's quite annoying because all he seems to talk and think about is how good he is with a sword. But as his past is revealed, you learn that he's actually a frustrated and misunderstood guy. Losing his hand gives him some much-needed humility which sets him apart from his sister. And though their relationship is twincestual, it's rather sweet just how much Jaime adores Cersei; to the point of being utterly faithful to her despite being one of the most sought after men in Westeros!

Just finished another book, has anyone else noticed how much the author enjoys letting us belive that people died when they didn't? When robb and his mother died, I thought Arya died as well. It was pretty awkward as I started shouting ' I hate him, I hate this author!' then I threw the book on the floor and jumped up and down walked around and tried to calm down. Man sometime I believe he is writing the way he does just to annoy the reader.

I thought it was quite clear that Arya survived. I was so angry that she got so close to seeing her family again, and then that all happened!!

The end of the final chapter (before the epilogue) of A Storm of Swords made me go "Oh my GODDDD!" out loud at midnight while my other half was trying to sleep. xD

Ahh, I forgot about that bit! You're right, and I had the same reaction as well.

I love the torture these books give. I'm going to be lost without them when I've finished!!

    Just picked up AFfC.

I hope it's not as bad as some people suggest...

While it isn't as good as the others, by no means is it a bad book. The main complaint is that it spends a lot of time with characters that people don't really care for that much. I thoroughly enjoyed it despite that .

I've started reading the first book but I'm finding it really difficult. I've got the ebook but for some reason I can't read more than one chapter at a time because it's really hurting my eyes, it's slightly better on my phone but still not great. It's annoying because usually I find ebooks really easy to read on my laptop screen. I'll probably end up ordering the paper copies so I can actually read more at a time.

Reading on an LCD screen is never easy on the eyes. Get a paper copy or an e-reader (Kindle is awesome) to stop the strain

I'm so tempted to buy a kindle (I already have quite a few kindle books) but I don't think I can justify it at the moment as I'm currently unemployed. Looks like I'll have to get the paper copies (no where to put them though!)

Just think how Kindle ebooks are often a tiny bit cheaper than paper copies so you may end up saving money over the [very] long run

I am already hungry for the next Song of Ice and Fire book! I have starterd reading some Steven Erikson to occupy me in the potentially very long meantime.

I'm interested in these books...exactly how much "sex and gore" is there? It's highly likely that if I leave a book lying around, my parents might pick it up (or worse - my grandma :eek4:). Not that it puts me off reading them though.
