    thanks for your help
This is what I found on their website:
The guarantee does not apply to students who:

    miss the application deadline
have not firmly accepted their offer of study by the given deadline
have previously studied at the University
are on an EU exchange (Erasmus) programme

But it says you should complete the form as soon as Bristol becomes your firm choice after results - if you get your insurance choice.

"If we are able to make allocations to non guaranteed students these will be emailed from 3 September and thereafter on a daily basis. It is ESSENTIAL that we have your correct email address so that you can receive details of your offer. Priority for allocation will be given to students who have special requirements with regard to accommodation because of ill health or disability and then to students who would find it especially difficult to look for private rented accommodation in Bristol.

We will try our best to offer you a suitable room and will only make one offer of accommodation. If we do not have enough spaces for everyone we will give priority to students with disabilities, students from abroad who may find it difficult to come to the UK to look for private rented accommodation and students facing particular financial hardship. After these priorities students will be selected randomly within the preferences they have indicated.

If we are not able to accommodate all students we may place some students in temporary accommodation and will run a residential house search event so that students can find their own accommodation. The aim of the event is to give students time to look around Bristol and view properties, either as an individual or in a group with other students. Staff from the Accommodation Office will be on hand to give advice and information and to help with any issues or concerns."

    That's from the website - http://www.bristol.ac.uk/accommodati...uaranteed.html

    Hey, thanks for the info.

Although, I tried the Bristol accommodation application and it says I'm not eligible because I'm an insurance offer holder. Does this mean that I can't get accommodation even if I DO end up in Bristol?

Sorry, a little confused.. Thanks for your help!
You can't apply for accommodation until you are certain you missed your firm, which means after results. Sorry.

Aah.. I reckon that means I'll have to take whatever room they give me. Actually, although Bristol is my insurance, I'm very sure I'll end up there because my firm choice is King's, and I definitely did not do well enough to keep THAT, LOL.

Anyway, thank you so much for your help!

    Dear Slizzie,

Okay, then it sounds like I may still have a chance. As I'm from Malaysia, the foreign student status might help.. Hopefully I'll get something.

Thank you so much for your help!

    Hey!
I think that this question probably occured in here already, but I'm busy in my job and have no time to search for it.
Do you have any idea about what is Bristol's policy about people who did not meet all requirements of their offer ? ( I had 4 different conditions and met 3 with over 10% beyond above the requirement)

History students - 1st year books for sale
    Hi all 2012 history students!
I am just about to start my 2nd year and I am selling all my history 1st year books AT A DISCOUNTED PRICE!!!
Last year I spent on average about £20 on each book (minimum £15 maximum £55!) and these were from amazon and on your 1st year reading list - compulsory.
I will be selling my books at around £10 each, which means more money for alcohol for you freshers
PM me if you are interested, you wont find them anywhere cheaper! I wish I could have found a 2nd year to buy them off in freshers...but I had no luck.
    FIRST COME FIRST SERVE
    Hope to hear from you

PS I spent around £250-300 on my books for 1st year and they were 2nd hand but in good condition! You could buy them off me for around £100! You really wont find them anywhere cheaper.

It depends what you want really. If I wasn't already a year older (did my AS's over two years cause I was ill) I'd be in the same shoes but I know I definetly want to go to uni this year. If you've got money to have a gap year and have an awesome time then by all means apply again... but it can be quite depressing at home otherwise when all your friends are having a blast at uni especially as getting those grades isn't a guaranteed oxbridge ticket - you have to impress at the interview from what I've gathered.

I also know that my oxbridge friends, don't seem to have time to do all the extra curriculars a lot of people do at uni and just generally enjoy being a student because they have short terms with a huge workload! But then again if you really want to know if you could have made it to oxbridge and think you'll regret not finding out and think everything would be worth it, then go for it. Only you can decide!
