Bristol 2012 applicants !
Welcome to the University of Bristol forum: where prospective and current students can discuss everything from Rahs to the Coronation Tap, the walk to Stoke Bishop to rumours of hating UWE.

Re: Bristol 2012 applicants !Haha well I wanted people knowing that I may not have as much of my heart in it as other people in this thread!
My set up of choices is really quite odd.
As of right now:
1) If I get offers from all I will firm Cambridge and Insurance UCL.
2)If I don't get an offer from Cambridge but do from everyone else I'll firm Warwick and Insurance UCL.
3)If I don't get a Cambridge or Warwick offer than it'll be Firm UCL and Insurance Bristol.
4) I don't want to picture a worse scenario right now :'(
I'm kind of going off on a tangent here, but basically if everything's ideal then Bristol will be taking a backseat

Naa it's all 'wow I really want to study here' blah blah
You must be thinking the same on some of your choices surely?
Probably swap Durham with St A's and maybe Bristol with Edinburgh. Not sure on that last one.

Re: Bristol 2012 applicants !Hi, applying for English Literature. I'm a mature student (will be aged 22 when I start the course) as I took a gap year after sixth form and enjoyed it so much I had three more...HAHA. In that time, I've taught English as a second language in Australia, Canada, Chile, Dubai, U.A.E., Peru, New Zealand, and travelled as a tourist to Chicago, San Francisco, Washington D.C., New York city, Tokyo, Kyoto, Montreal, Vancouver, Ottawa, Toronto, Calgary, Perth, Melbourne, Sydney, Auckland, Wellington, Christchurch (before the earthquake), Dunedin.(Original post by -Illmatic-)
I've seen a couple of threads for different universities such as Oxbridge and Durham and I thought I'd get the ball rolling with prospective Bristol applicants
At a later date, it would probs be helpful if we have a long list of people with diff subjects

Re: Bristol 2012 applicants !You'll have to explain what you've learned from those years out. That seems like a lot of gap years, they might not like it if all you can say is that you've done a lot of partying or something(Original post by SebCross)
I'm hoping they quite like candidates who have had extensive and varied life experience...
. On the other hand, you were teaching English which is fairly relevant.

Re: Bristol 2012 applicants !That's what I'm hoping they'll think when reviewing my application: 'He has travelled widely, taught English as a second language and English literature classes in a range of countries and learning environments.' And my academic ability is as good as anyone's.(Original post by thegenius31416)

Re: Bristol 2012 applicants !One of the top ten cities in the world to visit apparently, the only thing I'm worried about is the city's likeness to London...(Original post by SebCross)
