Re: Chemistry 2012 ApplicantsI don't think they'd publish that kind of information.(Original post by Triangle1)
Do you guys know what percentage of applicants at ucl, imperial and oxford get an interview for chemistry. I've looked but not found.
edit: seems they do

Re: Chemistry 2012 ApplicantsOxford is something like 97%, it's on their website. The other two don't publish these statistics but I was told at an Imperial interview it was approx 70-80%(Original post by Triangle1)

Re: Chemistry 2012 Applicantsit should be noted that though oxford does interview 97% of candidates it is not because they interview almost everyone, but because they interview everyone who has the grades and potential to meet the A*AA offer. so the figure represents how hard the competition is (ie 97% of all candidates are likely to get A*AA) rather than how easy it is to get an interview.(Original post by Triangle1)
Okay that's good. Do you guys have any recommended reading for chemistry?
for the interview itself studying your AS and U4 chemistry syllabus should be enough. you should be also able to do Core (1,2,3,4) A2 maths - differentiation/ integration especially.Last edited by overninethousand; 10-06-2012 at 13:34. -
Re: Chemistry 2012 ApplicantsDo you have any tips for acceptance into ucl undergrad chemistry. Im a couple of years early but want to start working on co curricular activities and what not.(Original post by Couldxbe)

Re: Chemistry 2012 ApplicantsMake your PS read like chemistry is the only thing in thsi world that you love, and if you were to get 5 rejections, you'd still apply for it next cycle.(Original post by Triangle1)

I'm still not sure why UCL invited me to interview, and then gave me an offer considering how awful my AS grades were. -
Re: Chemistry 2012 ApplicantsWhat did you write in terms of what you did to prove your dedication to chemistry. Basically what outside, chemistry related activities did you do.(Original post by .snowflake.)

Re: Chemistry 2012 ApplicantsMentioned my work experience, why I find organic chemistry so interesting, that theres a particular double page in my textbook i find interesting - it's a flow chart showing how to get from one type of compount to another, and that I knew this probably isnt complete and REALLY wanted to know the stuff thats missing.(Original post by Triangle1)
