Newcastle Uni - Didn't get first choice accommodation
Just got my accommodation offer today. I wanted Windsor Terrace but have got Victoria Hall, and not just the regular room but a deluxe one. That's all well and good but that's £535 more than I would be paying at Windsor and I'm not exactly happy about it.
Does anyone know how easy it will be to switch to a different place? Or is it unlikely that I'll be able to? -
Re: Newcastle Uni - Didn't get first choice accommodationYes I have an unconditional offer.(Original post by leavingsosoon?)
How did u get a response so soon, did you get an unconditional offer because the results arent nearly out -
Re: Newcastle Uni - Didn't get first choice accommodationIf you ring the accommodation office you'll probably be in with a chance of them changing your room. Results aren't out yet so there will be plenty of rooms that haven't yet been allocated.(Original post by ratherchloe)

Re: Newcastle Uni - Didn't get first choice accommodation
Oh my best friend was in St Marys. There's bits that have been updated and they are beautiful <3 You could fit my entire flat at Ricky Road into their living area. Totally gorgeous. Apparently they other types are vile though. Good luck lol.
You can actually transfer in first term though, my friend did from Hendo to St Marys, and another from Ricky to St Marys.
You probably wont get Castle Court... Zain if you were to swap. I don't actually know anyone from Bowsden, but you could always just ride your bike or get the bus... or transfer to another halls.
How much is St Marys btw? Last year it was cheaper than Ricky, coz it's just a bit out but soooo nice. We all estimated the prices would go up massively this year. -
Re: Newcastle Uni - Didn't get first choice accommodationSt mary's is the cheapest, about £2700 for the year.(Original post by Aubydoll)

Re: Newcastle Uni - Didn't get first choice accommodationI was in St Marys last year
it was only a little bit cheaper, AND they are planning on refurbishing all the flats in time for the new term! the distance away from uni can be a bit of a pain, but there is regular buses and if you're feeling extra energetic there are bike racks or just walk it in the beautiful newcastle weather :P hope you love it there as much as I did!!

Re: Newcastle Uni - Didn't get first choice accommodationI don't understand what the fuss with castle court is, the building looks terrible form the outside.(Original post by Chris_L)
I got Victoria Hall as well. Didn't put it down as a first choice.
Really wanted Castle Court but it looks like a lot of people got let down there. **** happens. -
Re: Newcastle Uni - Didn't get first choice accommodationYep, does suck but oh well. I did call them up on the day to state a change, but they said it wasn't allowed :/ I applied as soon as the application service opened (within the first 5 minutes). I asked them if I could have Windsor Terrace as it's literally opposite the Law School, yet they said you have to accept what they give you. Then again, it's on the Metro line and a student term ticket shouldn't cost that much(Original post by Aubydoll)

Re: Newcastle Uni - Didn't get first choice accommodationThere's a transfer window that opens around about November and you change halls at Christmas so you'll still have to have a term there. I think if you find someone who wants your halls and you want theres too you can do a swap.(Original post by zainmahmood)

I used to walk to Heaton to see my friends at Hendo, so yeah idk, you'll come up with solutions to get there.
