Re: The Commons Bar Mk VAnd so my line of inquiry continues. If the only thing that separates a libertarian from a tory is whether or not to use a condom then the question becomes - what's the point? I consider the same thing with UKIP. Where does the line get drawn between one party and the next especially considering LPUK is rapidly right-wing and UKIP is like the Eurosceptic Tory Party Conference drinking club?(Original post by tehFrance)
Alas it is true... I compromised on too many things socially and some economically as well
Damn progressive world

Re: The Commons Bar Mk VWhy is it I never see you in the subbers back room bit?(Original post by Teaddict)
Meh quite a few TSR Conservatives would seem more appropriate in the Libertarians. -
Re: The Commons Bar Mk VYeah, I realise that. Which is why I'm most likely not going to be a member of any political party.(Original post by paddy__power)
You will be waiting a very long time for LPUK to get their act together

Re: The Commons Bar Mk VObviously I need to return and drag you guys towards the centre ground economically aswell(Original post by AlexInWonderland)
Yeah, a lot of the TSR Tories are fairly central on social issues.
To be honest, this is probably the long term future of the RL Tories as well, as many of the 'old fashioned' values are perhaps less relevant now than they sued to be
I would agree that it's hard to be Conservative in a 80s Tory/Widdecombe way these days. Most of us have grown up in a very socially liberal way and religion is well on the decline, there's nothing to really make us socially conservative anymore other than regarding the married family unit as something beneficial.

Re: The Commons Bar Mk VYou never see me there either, mostly because it's crap.(Original post by Aj12)

Re: The Commons Bar Mk VFair enough(Original post by davidmarsh01)

Re: The Commons Bar Mk VIncorrect. The right-wing backbenchers in the Conservatives will never accept a completely central Tory Party. I reckon the Tories are more central on economic issues and more right-wing on social issues. Had the members of UKIP manned up and stayed members of the Conservatives then the right-wing guys in the Tories would have more clout.(Original post by AlexInWonderland)

TSR Conservatives are not representative of the RL Tories in my opinion. -

Re: The Commons Bar Mk VCould you copy and paste your signature for me? All I need to do is delete the MUN bit and change it to Communities and Local Government Secretary which I should be able to do(Original post by davidmarsh01)
Dayne made it for me, I'm sure he'd be willing to make you one if you asked nicely
