I looked at Birmingham and De Montfort, Birmingham accommodation is not that great. Rooms are quite big but actual building was really old and the shower in the shared bathroom is tiny haha! When I wen't we didn't get to see any facilities or anything tho, just one room with some resources in. Not sure if they have a computer lab or anything but the lectures all seemed quite nice
The library is pretty big and specialist though. Think Birmingham nightlife is supposed to be amazing, but the union at South campus (where the course is) is tiny and not that great.
De Montfort course seemed good and lectures were all nice The building where the course is reminded me of an old school building so if you don't mind that you will be fine. I didn't really like the campus feel of it though but thats just me. The accommodation is all really nice Guess it's all just down to what you like/don't like.
I'm having the same problem with my PS aswell, it's fine on a word document but when I put it on UCAS it's too long. So annoying! Hope you sort it out x
Yeah I really do need to do a bit more research into them. I've been reluctant to do tooo much research as I'm worried I'll get attached to one particular uni and be gutted when they reject me. Terrible game plan I know
I have heard that the birmingham building isn't in a great location which is offputting. The accomodation doesnt bother me too much as Im more then likely going to be renting private accomodation with my boyfriend.
Think I'll probably not go with birmingham, just seem to be a few too many cons. Ah decisions!
PS is WRECKING my head. hope you get yours sorted too, let me know if you find some miraculous way to fit it all into the box

I have been looking at this thread every now and then whilst applying and have finally got around to joining. It is so reassuring to read about people in the same boat! I am applying to both the undergrad and postgrad courses. My first choice would be postgrad, but as it is so competitive I am basically trying to maximise my chances by going for undergrad too. Is anyone else doing this? Any ideas on what the unis will think about this? I can't decide if it makes it look like you really want to do the course or just looks like you are not that committed to the postgrad course...
I got onto the waiting list for the Greenwich course which starts in January, but didn't make it any further. I was feeling reasonably confident after that, but now I have seen how much experience some of the people on here have got I am nervous again!
Would be great to hear from anyone in the same position. Good luck to everyone with your applications X -

I used the entry requirements as a decided factor mainly, BBB is much more achieable for me than AAB. As for the area, Birmingham is the largest city in the UK excluding London, and Leicester (is really hard to spell...?) and is a lot smaller, still got everything you need but I imagine the night life and shopping isn't as huuuuuge. Birmingham is 3 years, DMU is 3.5 and Manchester is 4. you could always look at living costs and travel costs?

Yeah I should really look a bit more at the entry requirements, I've the Irish leaving cert and a previous degree so I don't know if they are assessing me on my school grades or on what I got in my degree. hmm
I am more drawn to the 3 year ones the thoughts of another 4 years is just horrible buut then again for the right uni I think I'd be willing ot do another 4!

That sucks and would be rather rude if they didn't even look at it.
Did you attach your references to the application or just filled in the details? I submitted my application 1st November but haven't heard back, and my second referee hasn't written / sent off my reference yet (grrrrr)
Did you apply for the Msc too? I think no news is definitely good news!
I have a feeling they may have already decided who they were taking and then just didn't bother looking at hte other applications. Ah well! hopefully my luck will change

I think there seems to be quite a lot of choice for courses in the south - have a look through this thread - lots are mentioned.
I don't think Newcastle interview for undergraduate applications, no - phew! haha!
I think that especially for SLT, a lot of places don't start handing offers out until after the January 15th deadline so don't worry too much, you still have plenty of time! Maybe aim to get it all sent off before Christmas - even just so you can enjoy Christmas without worrying about it! Have you got much still to do for your application?

It's going to be so rubbish if I don't get offers or get the grades I need! This is all so exciting but also really horrible! :P
I know - i'm finding chemistry really difficult this year, much more so than all my other subjects, so it's made me really worried in case I don't even meet any offers
