Re: The TSR Pokémon Society IIIFor Gengar?(Original post by farawayheartbeat)
Just out of interest, what kind of set would you use from a competitive standpoint? -
Re: The TSR Pokémon Society III
Turned on my DS for the first time in ages today
Traded some soulsilver pokemon over to my Diamond game to train up faster. Apparently I last played Diamond on the 3rd of March
It's very odd, I seem to be in the interested stage of my pokemon cycle (which seems to have decreased from years to months) but instead of playing the games, it's manifesting itself in nostalgia and listening to the red soundtrack on youtube

Re: The TSR Pokémon Society IIIAssuming 5th gen;
Gengar@Life Orb
Timid
252SpAtt/252Spe/6HP
Substitute
Shadow Ball
Focus Blast
HP Fire/Pain Split
Substitute sets have become pretty much standard for Gengar now, defending against status from the slew of walls who can survive being 2HKO'd and the priority moves of sweepers which have become obscenely popular. Shadow Ball gets STAB, Focus Blast combines with SB for perfect coverage and hits like a truck (When it actually hits, but Substitute eases that burden somewhat). HP Fire offers additional coverage, particularly against the omnipresent Scizor and Ferrothorn, while Pain Split screws over stall and makes Blissey surprising easy to handle- If you can drag the standard Blissey to about 1 third health (36% is the exact number) you'll be able to KO her with Focus Blast [= -

My knowledge is limited so I tend to go for moves that simply hit hard, so it's interesting to try and learn a bit more about what kind of moves people seriously use.

Re: The TSR Pokémon Society IIIYeah the teams with nothing but attacking moves rarely work in a competitive environment =P(Original post by farawayheartbeat)
Awesome, thanks!

Re: The TSR Pokémon Society IIIIf you've managed to get rough skin for the ability, you could go for recoil abuse [=(Original post by mycodenameis:rosie)
caught a shiny droddigon (or however it is spelt) todayyyyyy!!!!!
shame it is a rubbish pokemon tho!! bad nature for it as well- bold
Druddigon@Rocky Helmet
Bold (Obviously =P)
252HP/252Def/6SpDef (If you plan on EV training)
Substitute
Roar
Dragon Tail
Rest/Taunt
Force the opponent to hurt themselves by rubbing against you while simultaneously switching them around a lot to rack up entry hazard damage. Rest allows you to heal back up, but leaves you defenceless for a couple of turns, while taunt stops you getting set up on in the rare occasions you cannot use Roar or Dragon Tail [= -
Re: The TSR Pokémon Society III
Hey guys
so uni has officially started, and they expect us to do 40 hours work a week, same as a standard 9-5 job
so I haven't been able to play as much
only notable things are that I've reached Victory Road in my Nuzlocke and caught a decent Lugia:
Calm/Relaxed (can't remember which, it reduces Attack and boosts a defence anyway), 8-10/30/24-26/13-15/27/30

ability- rough skin
characteristic- a little quick tempered
female
31level
94hp
78attack
70defense
43special attack
61special defense
40speed
not the best on iv's either
17–20hp; 11–13 def; 3–5sp.att; 1–3 sp.def; 17–20 speed, though attack is decent at iv27.....
looks like it's staying in the pc then. -

Re: The TSR Pokémon Society IIIIf you're referring to this: http://bulbanews.bulbagarden.net/wik...h!%27_Sept._18 then haven't heard anything as far as I can tell, bear in mind it wasn't necessarily going to be a game announced(Original post by The_Jatt_Joker)
did they announce that new game??
I'm not really with it though
so feel free to look through bulbanews: http://bulbanews.bulbagarden.net/wiki/Front_page announcement was meant to be made on the 18th

Physical attackers can't do **** to him
I was considering replacing him with a different Pokemon but he's a hard guy to replace, it ain't easy getting others up to level 40 like he is.
Team so far is Alonso, Lieselotte, Maximilian, Jaeger, Dovile, and Sebastien is holding down the resident HM slave spot thanks to Surf AND Strength.
