Well I personally rather doubles as I suck balls at singles  but I don't mind doing both if it's easier though I would try to make challengers battle me in doubles
I would say going all singles would be the best course of action, if we end up with a lot of participants maybe a doubles league could be started up alongside it :holmes:

damn  well give the singles water gym to someone else I much rather doubles myself and I really do suck at singles . My love for moves like earthquake tends to mean I forget to use any support moves unlike in doubles were I can do both at the same time

Support moves aren't really as important in doubles, the only ones that see any real use in competitive are protect/wide guard, stat-up moves and environmental/weather moves. It tends to be a lot more offensive in my experience =P

Abras were always a nightmare to catch though, and Alakazam was an absolute god in GSC so I never wanted to give mine up :ahee: Although then again I always used to try playing without cloning.

Well the moves I was thinking of aren't really support moves to be honest  which explains even more why I suck at singles. I just work it so everything helps each other as much as possible

Come up with an excellent Dragon team, I was casually testing it on PO and soon realised I was easily making it into the top 30 on the leader board, eventually peaking at 9 before finishing up for the night. Going to try for top 5 tomorrow after work. For a monotype team that's bloody good, although a couple of my team are so anti-meta right now it's hilarious.

If you need to update my lineup in the OP, switch out Latios for Druddigon.

Never really used Druddigon - caught it, found out it couldn't learn fly (it's got ****ing wings) and just shoved it in the box for a while.

Are you looking for the new B/W sets? I buy mine from chaoscards.com
Previous specific cards can be found on there or you could try eBay.

It's quite ironic, everyone dismissed Tornadus' Therian Frome as bad when it was first fully unveiled, but that thing has become the most popular new forme of the lot on the simulators, it really is fantastic =P

Druddigon does get underestimated a lot, but it's held back by poor speed and lack of decent setup moves, Hone Claws is just too meh. I find it needs to played in roles that other dragons can't play, which really boil down to a lead set thanks to it getting SR (Shared only by Garchomp who is Uber) or a bulky shuffler thanks to Rough Skin, decent defences and a lack of secondary typing. This set was really fun in the early BW meta last year:

    Druddigon@Rocky Helmet
    Impish (Rough Skin)
    252HP/252Def/6HP
    Dragon Tail
    Dragon Claw
    Sucker Punch
    Earthquake

Back when Fighting types were like the plague, this thing could switch in on contact moves and the opponent would shed almost 30% of their health just from touching it, before Life Orb. Weak opponents could be finished off with Sucker Punch, higher HP opponents would shed another third of their HP while Druddigon could tank another hit and then go for Sucker Punch, while Dragon Tail can PHaze setup attackers or predicted switch ins. I predict a similar set will see a resurgence now that Druddigon has access to sleep talk, probably running Rest/Sleep Talk/Dragon Tail and either Roar or Sucker Punch in the last slot.

Ok, I've got a few ideas about how to kickstart the PO gym challenge, but it'll take a while and more likely than not I'll get a few things muddled/not the best way it could be, but here goes:

For the next three days, I'm going to ask that anyone who wants to be a gym leader to please post the type of gym you want to be in charge of and the eight Pokemon (including a wildcard) you are going to use for that gym in this thread - if you don't know what counts as a wildcard, check the first post of the thread under 'Gym Challenge'. It's unlikely, but if there's an overwhelming number of people who want to be a gym leader for one type/we've run out of types for people to be a gym leader of, I'll have to allocate them on a first-come-first-served basis - I apologise for not being able to think of a fairer way to do it, but them's the breaks.

On Saturday I'll create a new, separate thread in the Chat and/or Entertainment section asking for anyone who wants to participate as a challenger to post their challenger team in that thread. If it turns out that in between today and Saturday that there are not enough gym leaders for each type, I will first ask for new potential gym leaders in the separate thread, and then if there are still not enough gym leaders I will start allocating multiple gyms to one leader.

My idea is this - after defeating a minimum of 16 gyms (to allow gym leaders to also post a challenger team without having to battle against their own gym), the challenger will be entered into the TSR Elite 4. There can only be 4 users in the Elite 4, and if there are already 4 people in the Elite 4, you must challenge a member of the Elite 4 of your own choice and defeat them to take their place in the Elite 4.

If you are a member of the TSR Elite 4, then you will be eligible to take on the Ultimate Challenge - a battle against a team of 6 Arceus, the leader of which is to be confirmed. For this challenge you will be able to replace one Pokemon in your challenger team with a Pokemon that is considered Uber. If you manage to defeat the Ultimate Challenge, then you will be declared a TSR Pokesoc Champion!

    How's that sound to everyone?

Sounds good Didn't know 8 pokemon were needed though so I've got six at the moment in my flying gym. Also, haven't got my laptop atm and I need to adapt to the new meta-game (haven't played in a week or so), but I think my team so far is Zapdos, Ninjask, Landorus, Dragonite, Skarmory and Latias(WC). Will finalise everything when my internet is up and running.

The challenge is basically following the same rules as when Jangrafess thought of it, but online rather than via wifi - the 8 Pokemon per gym rule is there to allow the leaders to have some variety; if there's only 6 Pokemon in the gym then a challenger would only ever face those specific Pokemon, but with 8 including a wildcard there's a little bit less certainty about which Pokemon a gym leader will choose, and one Pokemon can make the difference between winning and losing.

A little birdie (aka my own intuition :ninja:) tells me that Pokemon Black and White 2 could be released from the 7th October (US version) to the 12th October (European version), which is pretty good since I was expecting it to be a whole month later. The 3DS XL is also released at the end of this month, so you can bet I'll be playing BW2 in supersize :teeth:

That all sounds good RJ, apart from the Ultimate Challenge. Teams of six Arceus (Arcei?) are nigh-on impossible to defeat with fully fledged uber teams, never mind OU teams with a single Uber. Between the phenomenal stat distribution, excellent movepool and the ability to choose typing, it is not particularly difficult to cover virtually every major threat in the game on a single team, or simply use six Extremekiller sets all equipped to trash different counts in the fourth slot. I know it's meant to be the epitome of difficulty, but I would not expect that anyone would ever achieve this.

I would personally suggest letting the Ultimate Challenge "leader' have a ten poke roster without type restrictions, two of which can be ubers but only one can be used at a time. The challenger would also get an uber (To be revealed before the leader puts his team together), and matches would be played under OU clauses. That would give the leader able to use multiple team styles to prevent predictability, keeping it challenging but making victory achievable.

Anyway, to confirm my eight Dragons: Dragonite, Druddigon, Latias, Salamence, Haxorus, Kingdra, Latios and Gyarados (Wildcard). Alternatively I'd like to put myself forward for the E4/Ultimate Challenge (Whatever form it comes in) spots instead if possible (:

Hey everyone Thought I would post here as I've just started getting back into pokemon.

Been playing leaf green, having fun trying to catch rare pokemon!

Chansey was a ***** to catch! Caught zapdos with One ultra ball, very lucky! Got Moltres in 45, and articuno in 34. Kept my master ball, what should I use it on? I'm thinking mewtwo.

Now to do the elite 4...

Hmm, that is a good point - I never did figure out how Jangrafess intended to obtain 6 Arceus, never mind how you'd beat them :hmmm:

My idea for the Elite 4 would be that (in theory) it would change from time to time when challengers beat one of the existing Elite 4, but to get there you have to work your way up. Now normally in the games you need to obtain 8 badges to challenge the Elite 4, but I was be hoping there'd be enough gym leaders for all the types so you could obtain 16 badges as in HeartGold/SoulSilver. If there isn't, then I guess we could choose for some Elite 4 members to already be in place, although I'm not sure HOW we'd choose them besides first come first served.

I also don't want the gym leaders to be left out - say if there had been a string of challengers that had defeated a specific gym, that gym leader wouldn't really have anything to do unless they decided to have a rematch with a challenger that beat them. In that case, would it be a good idea to be able to lose a badge you've already obtained? Seems quite complicated to me :pinch:

It'd be cool if we could have some gym badge sprites like on the Nuzlocke forums so we could keep track of who has beaten which gym, but that doesn't really seem do-able tbh
