Well I put my module information and scores on UCAS when I was applying so they could see my results from all three years of my degree. In addition some universities also asked to see my transcript- I think Liverpool GEP and Birmingham GEP both did for me. I'm not sure if the universities you are applying to ask for transcripts but at the end of the day the Universities are more interested in your overall score/predicted grade rather than your individual results. It is worth emailing the universities you are thinking of applying to, and asking them how they deal with migitating circumstances and whether they will take this into account when making their decision.

I concur with the above poster; a 2:1 is a 2:1. It doesn't matter if you get 69 or 60, it's the same overall grade at the end of the day. They won't discriminate on this.

Hi guys, I needed some advice regarding graduate entry to medicine..

I recently did my A level chemistry exam and my poor performance in that exam means that i won;t be gettin an A... I have an offer for Biomedical science at ST Georges and i am passionate about studying medicine. So, i have decided to do Biomedical Science for the next three years starting this September (God willing)...

I am going to start my work experience in a care home this summer and work there every weekend during my course.. I wanted to know do you have to study all day to get 1st or 2.1 degree... And secondly, i realise that grad entry would be extremely competetive (even more so, in 2015... seems ages away ), would i be allowed to enter for A100 (5 year courses as well)... and lastly, would the uni s for 5 year medical programme be asking for AAA??

Not trying to discourage you, but you must bear in mind that getting onto a GEM course is no easy feat. There are loads of applicants and far fewer places,
e.g. at KCL application: offer for undegrad course is 5:1 but for the GEP it's 46:1 (http://www.kcl.ac.uk/medicine/study/...nGuide2013.pdf).

You can apply for 5 year courses, but with funding the way it stands I believe you need to be able to fund the first 4 years of tuition fees in full (so £36000), so this isn't a viable option for the majority of grads.

Getting a 2:1/1st is no mean feat either, especially if you don't have a real passion for the course you're doing. I don't mean to discourage you if you're genuinely set on this, I just want you to be aware that it is a huge thing to undertake.

Believe me, i will work my socks of for this course (Biomedical Science).. Its not that i don't have passion for this course, it s more to do with i dont know much about this course... In the summer, my goal is to read about this subject and some of the particular modules that i will be studying during my 1st year, so that, when i do start my course i have a bit of a know how...

Witty username, can you please tell me if it will be better to find accomodation near the uni or shall i just go to uni from home everyday... the uni is like 1.5 hours away from my house... I was thinking if i stay out, a) i will be able to save time and get a lot more studying done and b) be able to actively take part in extra curricular things happening in the uni..

Secondly, i wanted to know, how are professors or other teachers, in terms of supporting you with your work???

Biomedical science is a 3 year course, a lot of people peak in their first year and then slowly lose motivation. just remember doing Biomed is a marathon not a sprint.

Personally, I would live in halls, 1.5 hours is a hefty commute, and it does all add up.
I don't do biomed, but most lecturers are pretty good at answering your questions if you go see them with a particular query. Otherwise, support with work isn't really there (not in the same way as with school at least) it's very much a case of you doing the work off your own back and not being spoon fed.

Btw, i wanted to ask you, as you are applying as a graduate for medicine, how did you keep up your motivation during this course... Because i was thinking of starting some voluntary work in a care home just two minutes away from my house, Work there on saturdays and sundays during my course....

I have worked on my own from the very start, since primary school, so that factor suits me... Hmm i think so too, living out would be good idea, i think by living out, i l get to spend more time with friends and take part in extra curricular activities aswell, but i dont kno how to cook (apart from noodles, chips, chicken), i guess i need to learn from my mom over the summer..

I was motivated to study because I have genuine passion for my degree I guess, I also really like the uni so I guess that helps.

No, I had applied before (unsuccesfully) as an undergrad after which I decided it wasn't what I wanted to do any more. I took a gap year then started my degree (best decision ever) and I'm so glad I decided to take this path.

I only started to reconsider it as an option around the start of 2nd year, I reckon you'd get pretty down if it was always on your mind throughout your degree.
