Re: Have any of you ever made major changes to your appearance?Yeah, I still have the ''fat girl'' mentality, haha. I go into shops and try on size twelves, and I'm always surprised when they're too big.(Original post by naomi1988)
Thanks for your reply
OK I guess I will give you the thing about losing the weight seeing as it must have required a big effort for you to have lost so much...
Everyone is embarassing at 16, facebook makes it worse because people tag pics of you and you can't escape your past.
I had a big haircut this year. I cut over two feet off it's length. I only told a handful of people beforehand so I enjoyed seeing some people's shocked reactions
I also now need glasses and am going to get them within the next month. I tried contacts but found them uncomfortable. I am super nervous about glasses because I don't think I've got the right face shape to pull them off
I never tell my friends before visiting the hairdressers, I just turn up.
Ahhh, just spend time looking for ones that suit your face shape. Most people find glasses HOT. -

Re: Have any of you ever made major changes to your appearance?Congrats on getting the rhinoplasty done (had to google rhinoplasty just to be sure that did mean a nose job!)(Original post by LO :))
I lost 1.5 stones and had rhinoplasty.
The weight loss was gradual. Obviously the rhinoplasty was a dramatic change. I told my close friends and family before hand. They all reacted positively, I was happy with the result and that was all that mattered. A lot couldnt understand why I was having it done, but from 13ish I knew I'd knew have it done one day.
You must have worked up a lot of courage to have had such a drastic surgical procedure done. What was it like? Did it hurt? It is only something that I know about from magazines/TV but have never known anyone who has had it done so am curious

Re: Have any of you ever made major changes to your appearance?how'd you lose the weight? sorry to pry but im trying to get in shape for uni in sept(Original post by Colour Me Pretty)
Yep, lost a lot of weight, went from a size 16 to a 10.
I used to have my hair long, had a fringe put in then decided to have it shoulder length because longer hair got on my nerves. I had a fringe for over a year, until I decided in March I needed a change. Now, I've got rid of the fringe and decided to have my hair longer again. Quite happy with it for the moment.
I also used to dress ''emo''
, but I dress in a much more feminine way these days. I still like rock/alternative music, though.
These changes have been over the last two years, though. So it wasn't that dramatic. Looking back at pictures of my sixteen year old self, though. I look completely different, it's like I'm a different girl.
Edit: Just saw the losing weight thing, but I still think it counts, beause you still look drastically different.

Re: Have any of you ever made major changes to your appearance? At first, it was simply eating less, the weight fell off. Admittedly, I went through a stupid phase off not eating anything and lost half a stone doing that. However, last summer I lost the last stone by simply running in the morning, walking more and eating as cleanly as possible. I've been the same weight now for the past yea, albeit gaining a few pounds at times during study leave, but it comes off easily.(Original post by maxcartwright)

Ideally, I'd love to lose another half a stone, but atm I'm comfortable and just not motivated enough yet. -
Re: Have any of you ever made major changes to your appearance?
Changed hairstyle. I had mid-back length hair since primary school up until last summer, when got it cut to short-bob length without telling anyone I was going to do it beforehand.
This was about a week before my cousin's wedding, and the relative who'd planned on doing the bridesmaids' hair was furious with me

Re: Have any of you ever made major changes to your appearance?
Not really. I guess my hair used to always be tied back, but now it's always open and I don't have a fringe anymore. I used to look a bit grumpy, but smile a lot more. Also, my skin has improved, I don't bite my nails anymore and I've stopped wearing only jeans and t-shirts.

Re: Have any of you ever made major changes to your appearance?
Well, I've gone through a pretty interesting change over the summer and I'm just wondering about what people would say once I go to school! I'm of the few people who hates having attention going her way, and I literally die inside if people make comments about my hair or whatever.
Is anyone like this? How did you go about it? -
Re: Have any of you ever made major changes to your appearance? So you basically used to be a goth/emo and then grew out of it?(Original post by silverbolt)
got rid of my long hair and cut it into a decent style
got rid of my old rock clothes and got some decent ones
stopped dressing like a vampire film extra.
Thankfully never looked back -
Re: Have any of you ever made major changes to your appearance?
My hair changes pretty regularly. In the last two years, since starting uni, my hair has been dark blonde (natural colour), dark brown, red, purple, blue and magenta. My friends still comment when it changes, but they're no longer surprised when I turn up with a different hair colour. They were a bit surprised when I went from a chin length bob with a blunt fringe to a pixie crop though.
I've also lost quite a bit of weight over the last 9 months. My family comment on it, but that's only because they don't see me for two months during term time, soit's a bit more of a shock.
