Podiatry degree experiences

Hey everyone!

I'm interested in Podiatry for 2012 entry. I was just wondering what everyone's thoughts and experiences are of Podiatry??

What attracted you to Podiatry? Did you enjoy the way it was taught/delivered at your institution? What were placements like?? If you're not already a podiatry student/graduate, what universities are you thinking of applying to?

Hi.

I am about to go into my final year of a bsc podiatry. I think the clinical work attracted me to podiatry and the fact that it is such a specialist area.I would suggest you really research your choice of uni , as its a 3/4 year degree and you need to be comfortable in your surroundings. I think the first year is the hardest as you have the anatomy and physiololgy to contend with .. But if you choose the right uni , you will get the support from the lecturers and will get through.. good luck

Hi there!

I am about to embark on a BSc podiatry at Northampton. I have to say that I am really looking forward to the anatomy side of things...geek lol. I hear that it is a tough course, but I know from a former student that if you put in the work from day 1 you can do really well.

Where were you thinking of applying?

I'm applying for 2012 entry. What made you choose Northampton? At the moment, I'm thinking Glasgow Caledonian as I've heard good things but I still need to do a bit of research on other unis.

I'm also interested in the anatomy side as well and I heard that they do dissection at Northampton which is cool, not many podiatry schools offer that!

Definately the fact that they offered dissection. I also, had a recommendation from a former student about the course at Northampton.

Hi..

I have studied at Northampton and QMU in Scotland. I can say that both were a good experience . However I have enjoyed the placements and the clinical experience more at Northampton. I am not sure if the dissection is necessary, but one bit of advice get to grips with anatomy as quick as possible .It is the basis of podiatry, you wont find a good podiatrist that is not cormfortable with it .
