Is it a strange thing for a friend to come to a funeral to be there for you even though they have never met the deceased?
If they are there to support loved ones of the person who has died then I think that's fine. Whatever gets you through it. If your friend is there to give you moral support, then by all means he's fine to go. Nobody would begrudge you some extra support.
We have a brilliant team of more than 60 volunteers looking after discussions on The Student Room, helping to make it a fun, safe and useful place to hang out.
