Re: Good Television Society Thread(Original post by paper__planes)
New here...
Not sure if it's been mentioned but Parks and Recreation? So good, for fans of The (American) Office and Arrested Development....
I've had loads of people tell me that I'd enjoy it, and made comparisons to those same shows (both of which I quite like), but I've watched 3 episodes and just found it annoying. ;<
Normally seem to get Party Down thrown in with those shows. I liked Party Down.
"A Few Good Men, The American President, The West Wing, Sports Night, Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip, and The Social Network."
Of them I only really enjoyed The Social Network, and I didn't think it was near as good as many people made out.
I really can't stand an awful lot of films that Jeff Daniels has done, and I don't like his face, but some of his more recent films (The Lookout, The Squid and whatever, Paper Man, etc) have kinda warmed me to him.
Never really got why everyone hated on Paper Man. It's not the best of films but it's not complete crap, and the acting is pretty good.Last edited by concubine; 30-09-2011 at 15:57. -
Re: Good Television Society Thread
I love Arrested Development but didn't like Parks and Recreation, The (American) Office or Party Down (or Modern Family or Community, for that matter). I found them to be the sitcom equivalent of Michael McIntyre (spoon-feeding you his warm diarrhoea). However, if
like other stuff in the 'good' list, feel free to join(Original post by paper__planes)

wuts ur beef with the American version, or Party Down?
They're no more obvious than the vast majority of comedies. And nothing is as bad as Michael McIntyre.
The American version of The Office only sucked when it was trying to basically recreate the UK one, once it gave that bull**** up it got pretty good. Well. Dwight is good. Dwight and Creed are basically the only reason I watch it. And it is one of those shows I just stick on in the background mostly. I do find it easier to concentrate on other **** with TV shows and films on than I do with music. Music is way better. Music distracts and COMMANDS THE MIND!"3123Last edited by concubine; 01-10-2011 at 09:41. -
Re: Good Television Society ThreadThe Office: herp derp that's what she said herp derp. Also Steve Carrell in general. Maybe I'll warm to him if/when I watch Anchorman but at the moment he just seems like a twat.(Original post by concubine)

Party Down: Can't remember, guess I just didn't find it funny. Also I don't like Ken Marino, Jane Lynch or Jennifer Coolidge.
Looking at my list, there aren't many 20-minute American comedies that I really like. 30 Rock, Arrested Development, Curb, Frasier and The Simpsons. That's pretty surprising. -

Frasier and The Simpsons suck such balls. And Party Down is hella more funny than 30 Rock.
But yeah. Steve Carell is a dick.
**** the world I'm gonna try sleep again. -

Also, just realised my Rapidshare account expired, and here's tomorrow's lineup:

Forgot Dexter was starting again soon.
I think Boardwalk is going to become super ****ing awesome this season. I mean, the first was really good, but I think it's gonna be one of those shows that takes a bit of time to work its **** out and become great. It has the actors, writers and perhaps nearly as importantly the money to do so, anyway.
And my RS account died ages ago. I'm half tempted to get a Megaupload one now in its place, primarily because of Megavideo. -
Re: Good Television Society ThreadThe Good Wife's got Julianna Margulies. It's also pretty entertaining. It's going to be the premiere of Homeland, seems like it might be good. Only watched the premiere of Pan Am, I think it might be worth sticking with. Also, Christina Ricci(Original post by concubine)
Don't even know what the bottom 3 are.
Did you watch Terra Nova? I thought it was a bit of a letdown, though still decent. I just hope the characters become more interesting quickly -

If I met Christina Ricci I'd knock her out, then tie her up in my room. She'd never leave.
Not bothered with Terra Nova yet because it just seems dumb. Will probably check out the others. Though Pan Am seems kinda ****. Oh well. I can pretend its porn.
Damian Lewis is pretty BOSS.
I might stick on Kings now. Ian McShane seems to have a habit of being in great shows that get cancelled because the average viewer is a complete moron entirely lacking in taste. -
Re: Good Television Society ThreadAll of the 'that's what she said' stuff is a reference to how people overuse the joke, in contexts where it's not funny. Steve Carrell's character is supposed to be obliviously and painfully unfunny, how can you not get that?(Original post by Pheylan)
The Office: herp derp that's what she said herp derp. -

South of the border...
That reminds me, the bit when Junior slips in the shower and yells "your sister's cunt!" is one of the funniest things I've seen ever
Dude. Them chops.
That scene always makes me lol too. Also when ponytail dude knocks the dudes hat off. THERE WAS A BEE IN YOUR HAT. > : | -
