How did you manage to get a work experience placement at PwC...do you know how hard it is to get one..i will even offer to pay them to allow me to do a days worth of work experience with them and i'll probably still get rejected ..btw i'm on a gap year
Perhaps i misleaded you guys slightly, sorry! its an insight day more than work experience, im going to use it as an opportunity to establish links etc so gaining work experience in the future should hopefully be a little easier rather then the pain of going through the HR departments. Ive tried that with a few investment banks, just to get some sort of insight insight, to no avail however!

Thanks a lot for those Uni suggestions has cleared a lot up for me! Will have a closer look at them now.

    Cheers

    GCSEs: A*A*A*A*A*A*A*A*AAA
AS grades (and subjects): AAAC in Maths, Chemistry, German and History
Predicted/Subjects for A2: A*A*A in Maths, Chemistry and German
Universities likely to apply to: Only just really started looking at this, which ones would people recommend for my predicted grades, etc?
Extras: Any personal statement tips from all of you REALLY organised people? considering I have zero work experience and fairly limited extra curricular...

    Thanks so much

    Hey guys.
Two of the reasons (probably the main reasons) I've applied for Accounting and Finance are that I want a job in the business world and I'm good at maths and handling data. However, I have no real idea of the specific job I would like after and I'm hoping this degree will open plenty of opportunities for business jobs.

Are these good reasons to be applying for A&F?

    Woww you're stats are amazing!

Well I'd say if you're really stuck on how to begin, start with the middle section (i.e. work experience, academics, ECs) as those are things you can easily talk about.
Just write down whatever flows into your head, and get a basic draft down. Once you have a nice foundation, it's easy to begin editing and fine-tuning the statement...the hardest part is actually filling up the page with words I find.

So yeah, just write whatever you feel or think when you think about the course and yourself in general, and then fine-tune it later on.

Im goin to be a qualified accountant but I kno where ur comin from I too im interested in these other areas but becoming a chartered accountant opens the doors to many management roles nd such because of the financial experience. I read somewhere that like 70% of CEOs that run international businesses where trained acountants (or had accountancy degrees) at one stage

About investment banking we had speaker into are school who got a A&F degree nd then went onto be an investment banker he said that it or economics where probably the two best degrees to look at although he said that gettin a job in investment banking was really hard nd that you would have to apply to different firms in different countries. He said they once hired a guy from italy just because he was from italy, all the applicants where too similar and this one guy stood out just cause he was italian

Well I hope I was done help to u

I was torn between these two Uni's
I literally flipped a coin, it landed on Heads so i picked UEA as my 5th choice....

    - UEA are ranked really badly for accounting and finance and they have low job prospects
    - however i know what will look better...And i think UEA is more known than Sussex....tbh Sussex is in Brighton, so it kinda evens out.
