Does anyone know if Birks Grange townhouses are any good? I can't find pictures on the site...
They were built at the same time as the en-suite Birks self-catered so they're very similar. The only difference really is that you share shower rooms instead of having your own; but, in the Birks townhouses it's one shower room per two people. Oh, and the kitchen/living room spaces are really nice; it's the whole ground floor of each house.

I'm going to Exeter for Physics and Astrophysics

Think I'm going to go self catered. Then either Lafrowda or Cook Mews and Llewellyn.

Not sure which out of the two :P

Kind of a random question but I wonder if anyone knows if there are any Ballet/ tap classes/ societies in or near the university? I just realised I'm really gonna miss my dance class when I move away so if I was able to join a new one in Exeter that'd be awesome

Hey people, really sorry if I missed this somewhere in the thread, but please don't make me scroll back through the 69 pages! Was wondering if anyone had heard from existing students they knew, etc, what it's like just to live there? Good bars, whether it's expensive, uni support and atmosphere, that kind of thing? Also, I'm an unconditional English atm, anyone else out there? (:

I read somewhere on this thread, that Exeter is more of a pub city then a Nightclub place, so I'd imagine they are good. I also see that it is pretty expensive but not so expensive like London. I'm also a uncon firm, so I havn't been there yet but my friend goes there and I have read a bit about Exeter. Somebody correct me if I am wrong, I'm just tryna help.

Haha awesome have you thought about accommodation and stuff?
Just scraping in here, English students! Just wondering how you guys are feeling about exams and your offers? What A-levels are you studying? Also what kinds of accommodation have you picked? Lastly, the reading list! Modules and buying the textbooks! It's all quite a lot, isn't it?

Hi! I'm studying Lit (obviously :L), Theatre Studies and Performance studies and my offer is AAB. I'm actually not too worried about my Lit exam yet, it should be alright! I applied to Lafrowda and some other places that I've already forgotten the names of :L

Have you got a reading list? I haven't got one yet but I really want one already

Hey guys, just firmed Exeter for my number 1, i was surprised when they gave me a offer, but i got it and am looking forward to getting the grades and moving ...

Just wondering if anybody knows the accommodation details? My criminal record says that I cant live with females, so just wanted to know if there are any single sex halls available, and if so, to what standard are they?

Any help would be appreciated, thankyou

There's the option of asking to live with people of the same gender, but they don't have whole single-sex halls, they just try to put people together who want to be in same-gender accommodation. If you have a particular reason why it'd be a requirement, you might want to contact them about it. (Incidentally, there's some blurb here about applicants to the uni with criminal convictions which you might want to look at if it's relevant).

What sorts of grade offers have people had for English? I'm thinking of applying for 2013 but the A*AA-AAB boundaries on the website seem quite wide...

Typically, Exeter will offer you the grades you are predicted. It's not as common for Exeter to offer AAB offers, but only to exceptional candidates who tick all the boxes in their personal statement. However, sometimes the tables will turn and A*AA Candidates might be offered AAA/AAB because Exeter may have dubbed them 'oxbridge' standard, and they might have had an off day in the exam, so they want to secure an insurance place with them.

    Typically, no.

There are a high number of applicants for any given university, let alone Exeter! Most universities will not accept you on a lowered offer!

Don't stress yourself out over exams, just keep thinking positively do all of the work well ahead in time and you will do it, I believe in you
