I don't really see how it would change anything, these riots aren't a response to government cuts.

However, maybe a slight reduction in the severity of cuts to policing, probably under the pretense of the Olympics.

The government might wish to reconsider the cuts of 20% to the policing budget given current events that are likely to get worse as austerity continues to bite.
I don't know if they would reverse their decision - I think they might just have too much pride for that. But on the other hand, giving the police more powers to be able to deal with these situations may be a better solution.

But having powers to do more will do **** all if they don't have the numbers on the streets.

True, it's just that I don't see the government reversing their decision to cut the force any time soon, particularly in retaliation to the riots. It would just give the impression that all you need to do is riot and the government will change it's policies. I guess we'll just have to see what changes are made if at all.

Will this lead to the Coalition reversing cuts in welfare, police budgets, EMA, further education and higher education?
No, but it means we need a speed-up in the Big Society roll out, this trial phase has gone better than planned.

I watched Cameron step off the plane this morning from his cut short holiday to sort this out, he looked so annoyed about having to leave his family... That's the job mate, if you don't want to do it why lie to us like you did in the 2010 election?
