am i right in thinking when you apply for student finance, the st andrews course is a three year course? it won't let me choose 6 years

also, do you know when we find out about what accomodation we've been given? it's just that, on the form theres a bit about where you will be living during term time

That's what it said when I did it so I hope it's right! I wouldn't worry too much about the accommodation bit cause they'll know accom isn't sorted yet and might not be sorted for a while (think about those who go through clearing)

Does this mean you've made you're decision? or are you still deciding but just filling out finance and getting ahead of the game?

I think in my year people put down both 3 and 6 years. If you put down 3 years, you can then re-make an application after your pre-clinical years. If you are not sure just call SAAS.

The accommodation may come as late as august/early september. Most of the times, accommodation is given until mid august. But if you live in the near by area you might be left waiting until the last minute because they will try to accommodate students who simply cannot travel to uni on a daily basis.

Don't expect for all accommodation offers to come through at the same time.

    means ive made my decision

and okays, i was just thinking about whether that would make getting student finance in clinicals difficult or something

    Woooo

Yeah I know what you mean, I wondered the same thing but I guess it can't cause too much of a problem or there would have been a change in the system :dontknow: meh worry about it in three years time

When I applied for the loan a few weeks ago I phoned up SFE beforehand who told me I should put 3 but that it doesn't matter too much. So I ended up putting 6 .

I should really get round to doing this I'm going to put 6 aswell, I'd be paranoid that they'd try and make me pay tuition fees for the clinical years if I didn't

You can apply straight away! Just download the application form off the website, complete it and email back to accomodation people.

I'm exactly the same! I want self catered but I probably wouldn't live without junk food... I can barely cook pasta and I even burnt chocolate cake in the microwave  My friends have told me they'd fear for my safety if I got self catered

i actually adore cooking, i used to want to be a chef but im just incredibly lazy, to a ridiculous extent. during study leave last year, i had a jacket potato with beans for lunch every single day, just because i couldnt be bothered to make anything else. the days where i didnt have that were the days when there were leftovers from dinner

Oh I just fail at it haha I can cope with jacket potato, I absolutely love it! (but I can only make it in the microwave haha) But my speciality is spagetti/beans on toast... I make a mean slice of toast

Wanted to be a chef eh? So when I'm sick of jacket potatoes and anything bread based, I know who to come to

Hey, sorry to barge in on the thread, first of all congrats on getting places, and I was wondering if anyone had an advice for someone who wanted to apply to St. Andrews in October ?

I imagine a couple of people are re-applicants, anything you would've done differently the 1st time around?

    Would appreciate any advice ?
