    Maybe they havn't updated it?

Someone should email them and ask.

I'm going to bed, working tomorow, knakered.
    Damn, beat me to it

    Already on it!

And I don't know what i'm still doing up as i'm in the same boat..
Can i just ask how on earth you manage to do a full time job plus a bank one plus voluntary? Does God grant us that many hours in a day? Or are you not human?
Still, i guess the money must be a decent motivator

In my experience it's always best to get it in writing i.e. by emailing, but let us know either way

What's your UKCAT score btw? :holmes:
    Will do

Mine was 662.5 (a huge range between highest and lowest - 570-810)
I know it's not a complete fail and i am probably worrying too much but i guess four straight rejections makes you a little paranoid.. (although i got 612.5 then)

Insomnia helps. Tbf I've been sleeping lots recently and the bank will start shortly.

I don't know I guess I've always been good at balancing my time.

I think I'm gonna cut a couple of voluntary things (climbing and afterschool club)

But still play bridge (practicing with the welsh youth team atm selection is in feb)
    Two jobs
    Constituted organisation
    St.Johns.
    Partying :P
and I also have a full time girlfriend :getmecoat:
and I'm pretty active on here

    I guess 9-5 work weekdays
monday - meeting for comitee (constituted org - DRMF) also used to volunteer climbing instructor.
    tuesday - division (St.John)
weds thurs and fri off (don't think i'll go back to bass lessons, to expensive used to be on weds or the after school club which used to be here)
Sometimes play gigs on friday or saturday or a St.John duty Or out with my mates
probably pick up a shift on a saturday daytime

Sunday morning is sleeping day or an early half for the bank whenever that starts and sunday night is bridge practice.

but during my A Levels I worked out I was doing 10-15 hours of voluntary a week on top of 4 A2 subjects. And that got a little excessive but I still managed.

I guess I've always been a busy person and make the most of the spare hours I get.

Wow your life sounds so eventful, seriously.

    Mine is literally:
    Monday: Work
    Tuesday: Work
    Wednesday: Work
    Thursday: Work
Friday: Work (all the same HCA job on the same ward in the same department doing the same things)
    Saturday: Karate (training and instructing)
Sunday: Church (quite early) & Swimming (no lie-ins/siestas)

I go out quite a bit and stuff but i've never volunteered so much of my time unless i was at school - which i've already forgotton what is like (i've gone into adult mode too early)

BL is looking for brighter students by placing priorities on A* predictions. Medicine is a tough course.Students who can do 4 A level can withstand the stress comfortably.UCL prefers all the modules to to be sat in one go to prove student is capable of facing vigorous exams. All the medical schools are looking for best of the bests.
    You sound like an applicant.

    I'm doing 4 A2's
If I Get AAAA it's the same as someone with A*A*A*a

Hopefully I'll do better, but Doing 4 A levels doesn't necesarily mean an immediate advantage according to this system, You have more time if you do three and can get a maximum of 480 UCAS points.

At best I can get A*A*A*A though which is 540 UCAS points.

On the other hand worst case is AAAB which is 460 UCAS points.

Thursday may be really important for me even getting considered here.

I liked the UKCAT system aswell as there seems to be more scope of scores and everyone sits it at the same time.

If most people do 3 subjects (and a fourth AS assuming an A grade in that As)
    Then Max= 480(A*A*A*a)
    Min=420 (AAAa)

That means if 2000 people apply with these predictions. and there's like 60 points difference with three increments then differentiating on this basis is a little mental.

UKCAT on the other hand can have a difference of ~300 points between two applicants which is more significant if you have ~2000 applicants.
Your calculations seem about right although they stated the minimum to be 410 pints AAAb and I'm also doing 4 Alevels as well but that because i did one a year early and took the A2 this year and the AS in year 11 so im fine with the new system although I'm not sure how well it will work in providing a good cut off scope

This new admission system sure sounds confusing! Would anyone kindly explain how this new system that emphasises UCAS tariffs will affect me? I'm an international student and I take 4 subjects to A2 level. However, our system does not offer an A* grade so the highest attainable grade is an A. I'm hoping to be predicted AAAA or at least AAAB.

I wasn't aware of this new system coming into play

From what you guys have said it sounds a little odd way of doing things, but I suppose there is only one way to find out what happens :dontknow:

    (Original post by Democracy)
No, it's been happening for several years now. QMUL is currently 11th in the research league tables. The College top brass want this to be the case in the national newspaper league tables too, as well as a top 100 position in the worldwide league tables.

So there's been a massive investment in the Mile End campus, lots of new halls, a new Humanities building, a complete renovation of the Maths building and the Library. Obviously they want to make sure that this attracts the best students, so slowly the entry reqs have been going up.

The new Principal is very keen on league tables, read this:

    http://www.independent.co.uk/news/ed...s-1806667.html
I recall in one of our introductory lectures we were told that Barts was 2nd to Cambridge for research. Not quite sure where they found that statistic but who's complaining :p:

Hah, yes, I know the SMD is exceptional but the RAE table only shows the overall ranking for QMUL which is 11th. That's what I meant :p:

    Hello

With an average UKCAT score of 665, is it even worth applying to the five year program at Barts?

You'd have to email them specifically for your qualifications (or maybe UCAS have a ranking for your A Level equivalents?
Are you doing A levels or a similar qualification specific to your country?

    Hello

Apparently that UKCAT score would be fine under the new system.
It would depend on your A2 grades/Predictions.

Does that count as doing them outside 2 years?

I think I'd email them in your situation to clear things up.
And the minimum will always be just that. A minimum.
I think that It is always a good idea to exceed the entry requirements at any uni you're applying to if possible.
That would make it a little easier.

And yeah Cut off scope seems a little bizzare.
Especially since the students will not have achieved the grades and some savyer teachers may predict higher, Unless they make your offer your predicted grades with the min being AAAb. That's the only way I see this system working without being unfair due to teachers over predicting students.

No it is within 2 years like any other Alevel the only difference is that I did it a year early which if anything puts me at a disadvantage. But I already thought of that and emailed all the medical schools I'm hoping to apply to and checked and they said its fine also it says on the BL website that its ok as long as I take 3 A2's this year and offer AAAC overall getting an A in the one i took early

I'm doing the A levels, so how does this UCAS tariffs thing work?
So you should be able to get the A* for 90% UMS marks in your A2 modules.
The UCAS tariff is found easily on UCAS's website.
    For a full A2 grade A* = 140
    A=120
    B=100
    C=80
    etc

And the As grades are half of those.
