Genuinely worried that I won't be able to properly prepare for this interview since its straight after exams. Oh and btw, apparently there's some degree of a page with tips for interviewees on Aberdeen's website... I've had a scout but can't find it, any help?

An extract from the website... "The interview is NOT an exercise designed to make interviewees feel bad about themselves" hahahah, that's worried me, if not then why mention it!? Eeeek!

Sorry I have just realised that the web page was updated in May 2012...so all the stuff about MMIs refers to the next application cycle i.e opening in October 2012.

As far as I am aware you will be attending the classic 'two scary people and a desk' scenario. If the information you have received from the university leaves you in any doubt then send them an email to confirm
Wow time flies, Just over a week before my interview D:

Good luck!
Hello!

I was just wondering when lectures officially start - is it on the Monday 24th or the previous week? Is there anywhere I can find info on events/times for Freshers Week? When we get lecture timetable, is it for the full academic year or do we get new ones at the start of each semester? Thanks

Official MBChB teaching will start the Monday after freshers week. You should receive an email/letter from the Medsoc outlining the introductory events during freshers week. These are supposedly compulsory...in reality nobody checks whether you go or not but you would be mad not to socialise with your peers as soon as possible.

The full freshers pack from AUSA will arrive separately with societies info, evening events, wristbands etc

Your timetable will be available on the MyMBChB portal which usually has the next 6 weeks worth of teaching uploaded at any one time but things are sometimes rearranged at the last minute
I couldn't help but see on the Aberdeen section of the Medicine stalking page, there were a variety of offers that people were getting... there were 2:1's (obvious for grad entry) but there was also a variety of unconditional and AAA offers. Were the unconditional offers for Scottish students only? Or were they just given to people that they REALLY liked? Thank you

Scottish or gap year. Either way you need proven academic performance.

Thank you, but surely they can't just give unconditional offers to Scottish applicants only?

Yes they can because our school system is different and our exam results from 5th year - our Highers - are the standard used for university entry although we apply in S6. In England, Wales and NI your As Levels are not a full qualification recognised as the standard for university entry requirements. Ie. they are not being discriminatory by doing so.

You'll find there are people of all ages and backgrounds from all over the place so I wouldn't worry  I can think of several people in my year from London or who have previously done degrees in London just off the top of my head.
