Re: Dance and Trance Music SocietyLol you've just listed some of my least favourite tracks! But fair enough, each to their own tastes.(Original post by Phil_D)
No, it's quality ****. Disco Mushroom, I'M The Supervisor, Cities Of The Future, Frog Machine, Ratio Shmatio, Sailing On The Sea Of The Mushroom, B.P. Empire. So many good tracks. And so creative musically. And they were amazing live when i saw them.
If you want musically creative, then 1200 micrograms are definitely the way to go. Their self titled album is amaaazingggg. And takes you on a wonderful adventure of psychoactives lol. They're coming to London end of sept - YAY I'm so happy I may wet myself. Not really. -
Re: Dance and Trance Music SocietyHmmm a lot of the psy I listen to is darker than that... Though it is dark in its own way I'll give it that.(Original post by DJDJ)
i dont think psy trance is dark, this is dark http://hardcorewillneverdie2.com/arc...ew3/b2b1a1.ram
I dont know, psy has its own sound so you cant really compare it to a whole lot. The only thing I've heard kind of similar was at global gathering in the polysexual tent. I dont know what it was exactly that they were playing but it sounded kind of psychedelic... apparently it was filth?
some kind of house lol. But it was amaaazziingggg!!!! Hard, fast and a bit mental just how I like it
-
Re: Dance and Trance Music SocietyYeah, each to their own.(Original post by mangomaz)
Lol you've just listed some of my least favourite tracks! But fair enough, each to their own tastes.
I am going to investigate psy-trance, drum & bass and breaks a bit more when i get myself a new hard drive. I'm a bit short of space at the moment though. -
Re: Dance and Trance Music Societywell, whatever ya say, to me, psytrance aint dark at all.(Original post by mangomaz)

Re: Dance and Trance Music SocietyEhhh?? There are names there that shouldn't be mentioned by anyone on any forums. NOT LEAST among some of the others. You even spelled PVD's name wrong. Jeez. Is it any wonder I get fed up with the stereotypical ''Trance fans'' when they know nothing about the genre they proclaim to enjoy?(Original post by miki_da_magpie)
Herm...some of the less "deep" DJ's, a bit more mainstream techno/trance are: Cascade, Tiesto, Robert Miles, Fedde Le Grand, 4 Clubbers, 4 Strings, van Buren, Jurgen de Vries, Timo Maas, Paul van Dijk, Scooter, Underworld Project, 4 Clubbers, 4 Strings, The Prodigy, Andora, Delerium, Paffendor, Dave McCullen, Voodoo & Serano, Angel City, Gigi D' Agostino, Klu Kulture, DHT, Barthezz, Dee Dee, Ultrabeat, Brainbug, Darude, Ian van Dahl, ATB. SUm good new DJ's i like. Nightcore, DJ Pulse, Basshunter (not the Boten Anna song), Inphinity, ahhhh there's so many... I'll stop before I offend anyone with too many commercial DJ's.
Phil, come on man... look at Ferry: OOTB - tune. Beautiful - not so. And he's but one example! I know what you're saying about AB - it's a good label, and I've quite a bit of stuff from it. But even it, now, isn't putting out what it was a couple of years back.
Oh, and someone mentioned Cascade - he's a mate of mine. Good guy.
My favourite DJ's range, like others, throughout sub-classifications of the Dance world, however, to give a rough idea: Lisa Lashes (can't touch her on a good night!), Stimulant DJ's [Brisk], Stimulator (German), Guyver and Gaz West. On the main-stream trance front: A & B, vB, PVD and Oakenfold. There is a reason that they're the biggest names, y'know.

Re: Dance and Trance Music SocietyI agree, mate. Trance isn't as good now as it used to be - but I still think there's some good coming out of the genre, tracks that i'll definately still be listening to in 4, 5, maybe even 10 years time.(Original post by djmarkmclachlan)

Orjan - Arctic Globe
Ferrin & Low - Breeze
Jonas Steur - Castamara
Arksun - Arisen
Armas - Angels And Demons
Giuseppe Ottaviani & Marc Van Linden - Until Monday
Aly & Fila - Eye Of Horus
Nu Nrg - Last Experience (Giuseppe Ottaviani Mix)
Andrew Bennett vs. Rico Soarez - Light Of Hope
Arizona vs. Passiva - Halo
Few of Re:Locate's tracks from his new album Rogue
Now, non of the above tracks may compare to OOTB when dropped on a dancefloor but they still have great quality. As i said, trance has just changed recently. Producers are just trying new things at the moment and in some cases (not all) I think it works well. And these days it's not necessarily the big names producing the best material. Although, Armin Van Buuren - Sail and Tiesto - He's A Pirate were both pretty sweet.
Good selection there, mate. I wish Stimulant DJs would get their fingers out of their arses and get this digi shop up that they've promised. I want F**k The Beatz and Mind Control in 320.(Original post by djmarkmclachlan)

There are fans like this everywhere, mate. In every genre - every sub-genre. People who like what they hear from their favourite genres, who enjoy their music, but don't necessarily know a lot about the genres they listen to, to the extent that some people don't have any understanding of any divide between sub-genres. It's understandable. For some people, what genre an artist comes from, the real names of artists, their aliases, how well they DJ, how "mainstream" they are, what their influences are, who they've collabed with, how long they've been in the business, whether they engineer their own material or not, what kind of equipment they use etc. just isn't important to them. Which is fair enough I suppose. You either what to know your genre well or you don't. It doesn't change the music.(Original post by djmarkmclachlan)

Re: Dance and Trance Music SocietyIs there realyl a need for this, why not vent your frustrations somehwhere else man! Get over yourself, the music I like dusnt hafta be the music you like and visa versa, as a "dj" you're supposed to understand that, if not proclaim it. Trance is especially there for ppl who have a need to connect with their own style unlike any other music genre. How dare you suggest that I know nothing about dance music!(Original post by djmarkmclachlan)

Re: Dance and Trance Music Societyexactly, he's a **** who thinks he knows everything; a nobody that thinks too highly of himself.(Original post by miki_da_magpie)

Re: Dance and Trance Music Society
I don't always agree with the way Mark expresses himself but I agree with most of what he says. In this case, I agree with Mark that Miki's list of artists hints at a slight lack of knowledge of the artists he listens to but I would defend and respect Miki's right to enjoy listening to those artists regardless.
And Mark maybe comes across as a know-it-all but he does know a lot and he's much less of a nobody in the music world that anybody else here.Last edited by Phil_D; 01-09-2006 at 11:17. -

Re: Dance and Trance Music SocietyThe list was basically meant to show Matt that I agreed with his list of good DJ's, it wasn't meant to show the only DJ's I like. There was a whole deep trance discussion going on and Matt was blamed for naming too many mainstream dj's so I did the same to show him that those were quality DJ's. I don't need some egotripper coming in and saying my taste of music sux, there is just no need. I agree that the list is too mainstream! It's why I put it up there in the first place! If you read my first mssg displaying the DJ's, you will see that I even state that these are mainly the mainstream DJ's...so I don't know why Mark had to get so pissed off with it.(Original post by Phil_D)

Thank you for agreeing that Mark should respect my musical taste, its what dance music allows you to do, and I know that he's bigger in the music genre than most ppl on this board, but he dusnt have to be a little bitch about it.
Moving rite along... Has everyone seen the video for The Egg vs David Guetta? I love it! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6UFiHxL_Rjw
