    Nawww thanks

And yeah, I'd give them a ring just to make sure, unless UEAMedic replies before then, as they know everything about admissions

Why is our UEA applicants group so quiet!!

If you have question about A104, I shall try my best to answer.

( This is not meant to be a shameless bump in any way shape or form)

How is the UKCAT used in A104 course?

Do UEA accept people who have previously applied and been rejected after interview?

When I applied, I either read on the website or was told by someone credible that they do use the UKCAT as a ranking factor but my UKCAT was atrocious so I'm guessing that they use if they find two applicants are extremely similar.

They don't have a cut off score and so you can rest assured that they don't place much emphasis on it, but in saying that, it doesn't mean that a high score won't be more favourable, they're certainly not UKCAT snobs, but they certainly don't disregard it.

Baby Boo could tell you more I'm guessing if you need to know about UKCAT use on A100.

If you've retaken and thus are an A3 then you're expected to have gained A*A*A* for a place the following year.

If, however, you have not taken more than two years to gain your A-Levels then yes you can apply again. Well that was the policy last time I checked, but it won't harm to send an email, if you want to be completely reassured, they respond pretty quickly.

I'm not retaking, I'm doing a foundation year/access course. I emailed yesterday asking if this course is acceptable in lieu of bad A levels so I'll probably get a reply on Monday.

Ooo, I have no idea about that. Could you tell us their reply when you get it please.
Sorry I know this reply doesn't help you at all, but it's just personally interesting as UEA have their own foundation year for medicine and thus 'reserve' 25 places for the five year for those students ( upon satisfactory completion of the course)

Yes, I'll post the reply here.

I know they accept some access courses because it's listed under the entry requirements. They don't specify which though.

(I'm applying to A100 but I guess it's still relevant)

Is the course better/the same/worse than you were expecting? What are the best/worst bits of the UEA's medical degree so far?

It's amazing, but I'm not sure it's because 99% of people who come to UEA/Norwich just fall in love with it after a bit, I'm one of those at the moment.

I'm on A104, but the tutors are so passionate and work their butts of to make sure you pass. The great thing is, they don't sugar coat, it's basically blunt honest truth but combined with an unbelievable amount of effort on their part.

I'm only on induction week and so haven't had the fitness to practices modules yet, tis next week, but so far the lectures are going well and there's extra help and support for those who need it.

I guess this won't apply to you but the only downside is as we on the A104's are registered as Med's but take some modules with the science foundation years, some of the people who run the science foundation year seem less worried about organising and getting things together for us, as we're not registered with their school. But yeah it's mostly very good.

Ah sweet, well if you like somewhere straight away, it's usually a good sign.

Would you be able to explain what the "Fitness to Practice" modules actually are? What they involve etc. - I know they're essential for passing each year...

Hi. I'm wanting to apply to UEA via the foundation year. I satisfy the criteria they ask for.

My main problem are grades. At GCSE I got 5As, 4A*s. At A-level things went downhill. At AS I got CCDE in Biology, Chemistry, English Language and Maths respectively. Loads of things went wrong this year. Teachers left, one got suspended, and another just didn't know the syllabus.
I'm predicted BBB/c (for AS maths), My big question of course is, do I have a chance at getting an interview or even in?

Any advice will be appreciated. Thanks

(applying to Leeds via A2L too, and I put a post on the Leeds thread, because I think you mentioned it there)

I could swear there was a whole panic on my Facebook about retake applicants who said they needed A*A*A* to get into UEA. Either that or I'm going crazy. A*AA does sound far more reasonable. This is why I tell the people who quote me to talk to you :P

Edit: Having Googled it seems a few other people are talking about needing A*A*A*, I think our confusion must have come about with the 'do we have to get an A* in every subject we retake'
