He hid my brothers air condition remote control cause he was leaving it on all day and it was like 40 degrees and he still wouldn't tell him where it was. Epic! -

Re: Parents insitits on turning off the router??The try turning it on and off again is also the standard advice you get from BT technical support when the internet speed you are getting is crap. Fortunately I am now with Virgin Media and my internet seems fine.(Original post by alex-hs)

Re: Parents insitits on turning off the router??
300milliamps at 3 volts for my router here, thats 0.9 watts, thats 85 pence in a year of having the thing turned on, if turning off at night, assuming standard 8-8-8 work-recreation-sleep day pattern thats 85/3 28.3 pence being saved a year
not exactly a reasonable amount to be fussy over really, you'd save more by unplugging every electronic in the house when not using, including alarm clocks during the day!
would save more by charging phones etc from 20% to 80% and not letting it go higher than that (loses charging efficiency after that)
heck even brightness and volume being turned down saves more than that...
and heres the real kicker for you, they could save more by using a PS/2 port instead of a USB port for the keyboard... yeah thats how pathetic it is.
