Underage for Freshers??
I just have a quick question!
I skipped a year a while ago so for Freshers I'll still be 17 (my birthday is in november).
I love going out, having a good time, and it's not a problem where I live, but do they ID in Lancs? (especially for freshers!)
I don't really want to be stuck in my room watching a dvd while everybody's out!
I hope I can at least do the bar crawl, but I've been told they ID at the door for that aswell ??
Can anyone give me any advice ou just tell me what I can and won't be able to do
Thanks
xx

Re: Underage for Freshers??I have a friends driving license that shes very kindly lent me, do they look at the picture or just the date?(Original post by GoldenEyedDuck)
They ID everywhere; if you have someone else's ID it reduces problems by 80%, though. -
Re: Underage for Freshers??No harm in trying, really.(Original post by BeckiitheGreat)
Haha not very helpful
I'm just nervous because I don't want to feel left out, that's all. I don't mind staying in, I'm not interested in getting pissed anyway, I just want to make some friends! -
Re: Underage for Freshers??Sorry for being blunt, but getting asked for ID will be common. If you're staying in halls, just make sure you make plenty of effort to try and meet people. You will make friends, and you'll only have a couple of months to wait until you can go out and join them.(Original post by BeckiitheGreat)

Either that, or defer for another year when you will be old enough. -
Re: Underage for Freshers??
There will be other oppurtunities to make friends, and it's probably that university bars won't ID as they'll assume everyone is under 18. Unless you look ridiculously young (I do even though I'm overage). Clubs will always ID you in my experience though. Likely to be a few dodgy pubs around, there normally are somewhere; try to find them.

Re: Underage for Freshers??Generally the picture doesn't really matter, as long as you're the same race and gender haha. It's wise to learn some of the information though, date of birth, postcode, address etc. You should be fine. Most places will ID you though, so just be confident with it(Original post by BeckiitheGreat)

. I'm definitely not deferring as the prices are about to rise and my entry is already confirmed, and it's not worth it for a month of not going out and drinking!

Re: Underage for Freshers??
is there your birth date on a student card - because if you had a student card and it didn't have your birth date people would probably accept it because if you prove your a uni student their going to assume that your 18, obviously if theres a date on a student card my idea is useless

well done for being smart enough to skip a year btw tho

. I'll just practice at home a lot and if they ask I'll just say I was very tired in the picture so I don't look myself haha

Re: Underage for Freshers??
Seriously man, it'll be fine. I've been going out since I was 16 and so a few months before you're 18 will be perfectly easy to get away with, especially with your friend's ID. Usually at Uni you'll be given some embarrassing T-shirt for your freshers week anyway with your Uni name on it, so that alone will make people assume you're old enough. People who are saying you should think about deferring - ridiculous. You have nothing to worry about, especially in Lancaster where it's relatively quiet so, as opposed to somewhere like London where loads of underage people will try and go out, they'll be more forgiving if you look young

. I look older than my age so hopefully that will play to my advantage! I'll just pop the silly tshirt on, lots of slap and be confident with the id, fingers crossed !

Re: Underage for Freshers??
freshers week is overated and i think too much pressure and emphasis is placed on meeting people through this. I can barely remember the people I met at freshers.
what i'm saying is that i hope you manage to get into places and have a good time but there will be loads of other opportunities to meet people and at the end of the day, freshers is just a very expensive clubbing experience. -
Re: Underage for Freshers??One of the bars had it's license taken away fairly recently, for not IDing people. When I went to Freshers last year, people were turned away for not having ID. So yes, in my opinion, you do need an ID at Freshers'.(Original post by katierose93)

Maybe not if you're in Furness though, 'cause they won't be trading after Freshers anyway. -
