Cheapest ways to move from sheffield to other city

Heeyya,

Well, I will be enrolling to the university of sheffield this september. Before going there, I would like to have an idea of the best way to go to big cities like London, Manchester, Leeds and Birmingham. And I would also like to know which companies you would use and the cost as well.

Check the National Rail website to check regular train times from Sheffield to your required destination. The best fares can be booked from thetrainline.com using their Best Fare Finder, you get pretty much dirt cheap tickets to major destinations (all of the ones you've listed) at the inconvenience that they're at very specific times which can sometimes be early morning.

Other than that, you can use Megabus for even cheaper deals, but of course you're on a bus so it generally takes longer to get anywhere!

Also if your going to be using trains alot the you should buy the 16-25 railcard you get a third off all fares.
