No. Everyone needs a desk to study at. Even students without a hearing impairment.

I got a desk and an ergonomic chair because I have a physical disability and need to be sitting at the right height etc. I was surprised to get them as I didn't think they did that sort of thing.
Unless you have a physical disability and therefore need a table that you can adjust the height of, then no. Everyone is expected to be able to use a standard desk/table.
