    Re: Online Assessment Boots
I got a job at Boots last month, and judging by the other interviews I've seen mine was rather nice by comparison! I went upstairs first and met the manager, and she asked a couple of questions; give me a time when you went out of your way to help someone, tell me what you would do when you first met a person to welcome them, name a time when you were a leader of something, and another one which I can't remember. Basically I included little things which I hoped would impress them into my answer such as I was a prefect, I nominated myself to be a leader for the activities at a 'gifted and talented' residential trip with the school, etc etc.
Then we went down to the shop floor and she asked me what I would do to that part of the store to make it more attractive to customers. I told her that I'd make sure any spare packaging/rubbish would be put in the bin, line all the items up and make sure they're facing outwards and to make sure that things were in stock. Then she left me for five minutes to pull forward the items in the baby section - just tidy it up and make sure everything is facing outwards. She came back and seemed to be impressed, and when we got upstairs she offered me the job there and then!

Good luck to everyone who is applying or who has an interview! It's a really good place to work!

Hey everyone, I applied for a Christmas Temp position in my local area on the fifth, I havent recieved an email about the online assessment yet however I am not worried because apparently, judging by all the posts on here, passing the online assessment is the hard part

Before I (hopefully) recieve the email asking me to fill out the questionaire I was wondering if anyone with tips could help me out? I filled in the questionaire before and I dont want to mess this up again as this is the only job going in my area right about now , thank you

Hi, I got a job as christmas temp the other day, just waiting for my induction
In the questionnaire, with regards to the customer service part, place the customer as no1 priority. Just place yourself as customer in the situations and decide what you think the best action would be.
With the personality, the 2 options seemed to be either you were a fast decision maker or willing to learn, optimistic, etc etc. I always picked that I was optimistic etc, not the hasty decision maker. You just have to be yourself really. It might be luck of the draw.

Also, if you get to interview (hopefully), its alot less scarier than it seems I was terrified but it was a breeze

Thank you! I just completed the questionarie and generally picked the answers which involve me helping out the customer as much as possible whilst being positive and good natured at the same time, and I picked the optimistic route aswell for the personality section! Thanks for the help , fingers crossed I get an interview, well depending on whether or not I recieve an email tomorrow I should know!

I just completed that assesment, but I found it very weird. I'm worried about my application as it seems to fail so many people

It is veryy strange o: I think based on everyones opinion, you mainly have to be consistent in your personality answers (Which I tried to be optimistic with) and the answers for those just seemed to be repetitive and quite simple Things like "I rarely get bad tempered" or "I find it easy talk to new people" were repeated so many times I got confused /:

What kind of answers did you give?

Mine were mixed, so I am not sure- I ticked decision making ones and optimistic and caring ones. Got confused as well, never had anything like that
It makes sense to use personality questions, but constant repetition is mind boggling. I thought giving a variety of answers would be good, but how could I know :p:

I agree but I personally think Boots are preparing us to fail! It seems strange that they would put so many repetitive questions in there to try and catch us out
Ah well, whatever happens we tried our best, and I havent had an rejection email (yet) so fingers crossed for the both of us!

Also I am only 16 and I had my first interview at McDonalds a while ago, and I have to say I was quite disheartened as the first part of the interview went very well, the lady that interviewed me even sad I had "beautiful words" (I think thats her interpretation of posh, haha) then as soon as I was passed onto the manager I could tell that he had already given someone else the job, I went home to find that my rejection email was sent BEFORE my interview had even finished! I wont blame myself though, with this economy I wasnt suprised to see people twice my age (and three times the experience) applying there!

I never even got a Maccy interview :p:
But yeah, good luck, lets hope we become colleagues and Boots would give us a chance. I love the shop itself nd I know how good their CS is, so I thought it would be a good place to work at!

Their loss :p: The job would have been great, but oh well. I find their selection a bit strange, but I guess they have reasons for those rules

erm a lot of you are saying to add cv stuff in the first part but all I typed in the "would you like to add anything else" box was literally:
I am very passionate to work at boots and feel that this job will allow me to use my excellent communication skills with your lovely customers"
hahshahahahagaha , I only put that because Im not "desperate" for the job just that if I get it I'll take it if not then oh well.

This morning I got the online assessment form so I guess it worked..so far? Will they judge me based on the assessment only now?

usually if you pass the online assessment, you get an interview. I have three times and had an interview each time.

I did the online assessment today, the first part (customer scenario questions) were pretty straight forward. But the personality questions confused me a lot, a lot of them were very repetitive and I'm not sure what type of character they are looking for. What type of person did you stick with? Decisive, Friendly, Optimistic...
