Current Engineers: Your Spare time?

I honestly don't know where my having to stay in to do work ends and my social ineptitude begins. :nothing:

Yup, did Electronic Eng at York and got a 2:1. Some of the lectures could be missed but it meant that you just had to make up the time when it came to revision therefore it is easier just to attend everything.

yea that's true i always found myself in that position ..............
I get a fair amount of spare time, most of that goes into Formula Student towards the end of the year, as well as into revision.

If you manage your time you can go out a couple of times a week though, but I would recommend not going out more then that, also I would stop going out if it meant you started to miss lectures.

I've just finished my degree in MEng mechanical engineering and if i understand your post right your asking if you get as much free time to go out as anyone.

Does anyone know anyone who got a first in any engineering subject?

I did.

Had to push myself like mad in the final year but it was worth it. Employers really do respect the fact that I have a first class degree, although most generally ask for 2:1 or above so it's not a deal breaker.

I should also add that I had massive motivation to get a 1st - my A Level results were poor and I wanted to prove to people that I was hard working and capable.

well done, Nice to hear
Why worry about something as trivial as socialising when you could be spending your time studying a subject as awesome as Engineering :P
