    Any reasons why you would/wouldn't?

Would you be encouraged if the price was really good, and it was by a student at the same uni who did the same course and is in their final year?

Don't you have a tutor at uni anyway? Failing that ask a friend or just self study. I would never do it, I just don't need to.

    I meant a private tutor
I just wanted to see whether this was something current undergraduates would do.

    What degree do you do?

I know, but most unis give you a tutor anyway, why pay for something you already have access to? Beyond that, uni is not about being spoon fed. Self study should iron out most things, and if you just get caught up on one thing, you have a lecture hall full of people who are learning too, ask for help.

    I do a physics degree.

I don't think tuition necessarily means spoon feeding.
But thank you for your input.

If she was a round-heeled, gawjus Masters student looking to earn a few extra pounds - then why not?

If it was some beardy bloke with six degrees - then no.

If I were struggling I'd just work harder (read more, etc).

I know a few people who have private tutors.

Personally I'm undecided. I haven't got one, and doubt I will, but if it came to the point where I knew I couldn't cope without one, I would get one. So far I've been lucky in that I've understood all the content and whenever I've been stuck, I've been able to ask a friend or read around the topic more and eventually it clicked.

Yeah I would if I was struggling badly and the choice was getting a tutor or failing. Really hope it wouldn't ever come to that.

Do you know what subjects they get tuition in?

I read an article and was shocked at the massive increase in undergrad tuition, because I never experienced it at all whilst at University.

Really depends on the price and how much you value you their time.

I know some in English Lit, others in Business Studies, one in Economics, and another in Spanish.
