Law Conversion Courses?

hi,

although i want to practice law, I don't want to do it as a full undergrad degree. i'd like to do a political sciences degree at uni, but undertake a conversion course for law. the only thing is.. i dont know:

1) the duration of the course
2) how much the course costs
3) if there is any extra training i'd have to do before i practice law (barrister)

and would you be a better lawyer if you took read the subject for three years, as you would acquire more knowledge of the field, rather than just doing a conversion course?

this is my first post/thread in the uni forum, so if this thread is in the wrong place- apologies..and if this the case, could someone re-direct it to a more appropriate location in the forum...
