Your school will almost certainly change its policy as statistical reporting rule changes mean that it won't be able to claim crediit for AS results (and thereby establish its place in the league tables) unless they are certificated at the time they are taken rather than a year later.
Hey man I've got two questions:

    1) Do unis other than Cambridge know and care if you repeated some AS modules within the same year? E.g. repeat a Jan module in yr 12 in june yr 12?

    2) Do unis care whether u repeat loads of AS modules from yr 12 in yr 13?
Is it a disadvantage when applying again to a 'top' uni after a gap year?

I did a Unit of (Scottish) Higher Philosophy (Critical Thinking). I didn't get a grade (no one did although I know I passed it) for it but it still appears on my certificate. Should I enter this into UCAS and how?

    Thanks =)

If I've read the OP right I think this is right:

    1) They won't know because your college won't cash your grade in until the summer.

    2) This would depend if your college cashes in your AS grades at the end of year 12. If they do I think you would have to put down your original grade and then your new grade after you're retaken.

Right thanks man, so do u know if unis will care if someone had to redo many AS modules that were originally sat in yr 12 in yr 13- as long as they complete the A level within two years and get a good grade at the end of it?

Some care to the extent that they insist on module A grades for some subjects with no re-sits allowed.

    Quick question..

Say you didn't get what you quite wanted at AS level to meet the requirements of the course you want to do (not a complete faliure; just a few grades which are quite low), and you decide to resit. In this case, won't you not be able to to apply to that course on UCAS (because you have to fill in your AS grades and predicted grades)? Won't they decline you out right before you have resat ? Not necessarily. They generally look at the full application, including the reference.

UCAS form has to be in by January right? If you want equal consideraion, yes. What if you resit all your grades from August and come out with all A's? You'll improve your grades, obviously, but somewhat late for the application. It shows the importance of getting good AS results first time around.

I don't get it, thx for any help

PS. in my case, the course is Actuarial Science
I'm not sure why I'm helping you after the neg you gave me, but there you go..

Can you re-use a reference you had last year?

Can I ask whether we can stop the school (academy) publishing AS results? I can see there could be a conflict of interest, where the school is satisfied to publish grades C and above when disclosing at this time to the Uni's would not assist the individual.
Can anybody also let me know the deadline schools have to publish/submit their results?

    (1) = Yes, because they will ask for this information on the supplementary questionnaire all applicants are asked to complete. (2)Sometimes, depending on the course. The top unis are increasingly less keen on module resits for some courses, and insist on results achieved at the first sitting. You will need to check very carefully that this doesn't apply to the course/uni you are interested in.

Then you enter the result in the 'other' box as PASS.

You can ask the same person to act as your referee, if they are willing to do so. What they will write in your reference is another matter - one hopes that they will update it appropriately.

I am completing my A levels in the UK, yet all of my previous secondary education was at a Spanish state school and so I do not have any GCSE's but the Spanish equivalent. In this case how will I declare my grades?

You will find that there is the option to enter qualifications from other countries. It should be possible to enter the grades as shown on your certificates, if all else fails, by using the 'other' option.

Do Teachers ever predict A*s at A2?

If the universities don't consider your AS grades doesn't that put those who got average GCSE's but stepped it up at AS (4a's) at a disadvantage?

Most unis do look at AS grades - and also look at the gap between actual AS grades and predicted A2 grades.

Yes. Obviously it comes down to the policy of individual schools when it happens, but it does happen.

If the universities don't consider your AS grades doesn't that put those who got average GCSE's but stepped it up at AS (4a's) at a disadvantage?
Different universities consider different things, there's always going to be someone who's at a disadvantage because certain unis place less weight on that person's strengths, but that's just how it is. I find it hard to believe that anywhere doesn't consider AS grades at all.

How can I declare an A level I have sat privately do I have to set the education thing as part time? thanks
You enter the Exam Centre where you took the exam, state 'part-time' and then add the details of the qualification you took there.

Thank you for your help. Another thing: as I studied in a foreign language I passed the subjects but didn't attain anywhere near straight A equivalents. Will universities look at my Spanish GCSE equivalents and view them with the same judgement as they would judge GCSE's, or would they be more lenient with grades from a foreign system?

Hello Quick question: I sat one Critical Thinking unit (half an AS) this summer and got my result yesterday. Am I obliged to put the result on my UCAS or do I only have to mention that I am currently studying Critical Thinking?
